R58 Front end noise when cold.
Front end noise when cold.
First time I have driven when cold, low 40's. I know that is not cold, but it is for central Florida.
I get a kind of clunk when going over speed humps (humps not bumps).
Even sudden dips in the road. Had it at the dealer, but by that time the temp was hi 60's. we drove for about 15 miles and it did not do it once, they had it up on the rack and could not see anything out of the ordinary.
Going to leave it overnight when it will be cold again so they can try again.
I know there are a lot or cold weather owners out there, had any issues like this? Oh and have 8300 miles on it.

Welcome aboard. Your suspension warms up with driving the car like the motor and tranny do. So maybe after they have it tonight, in the morning it will show itself again.
I've had a rubber-on-metal sound coming from my car's front end whenever it gets to below freezing - the colder the louder. It seems to be coming from the middle of the car (from passenger's side while driving, and from the driver's side while riding shotgun). However, there has never been a steering or tracking issue.
She's gone to the dealer on two separate occasions during two particularly brutal cold snaps (-30C was the last one), and the dealer said that it was normal. I watched them look at every suspension component for damage, and I've even done so personally, both under loaded and unloaded conditions, and nothing was ever found. And if ever the temperature rises to about -5C or above, the noise goes away and everything is fine.
My only theory is that the rubber bushings shrink when it gets cold, and things start moving around a little bit. I'd be willing to bet that it's the sway bar bushings, but I can't tell for sure.
If your dealer finds anything, please post it here. I'd love to know what they find, if anything!

Hmm.
I just drove home and it is about 60, the noise was driving me up a wall.
I have no doubt in time the dealer will find and erradicate the issue.
Have to wait for a loaner so I can leave it over night.

I will know after I pick my baby up tomorrow, but they say they have cured the clunk. Sway bar bushings. Trouble is we probably won't have any 40 or less nights until next November. In any case I will update once I have him back.
