What's up with the glove box?

The glove box door is an expanded version of my 2010 MCS. I understand getting the extra room, but it just doesn't look that good ... at least to me. I wonder if I could swap the door with the "thinner" version.

I know what you mean, I don't like the look either. Don't know about the

swap.

Thought it had to do with pedestrian compliance nonsense?

My UK Coupe has a thinner style glove box door, so they do fit them on Coupes, I was told the US spec one had an airbag in it.

That can't be an airbag. It's too thin and it's on hinges. I can't believe that would be a good idea.

Maybe it's a teeny-tiny airbag on the inside to protect your owner's manual.

No dude the airbag is sitting on the seat in front of the glovebox, not in it.

ECS Tuning shows a replacement door in the original "thin" style for about $115. I wonder if it is a simple swap.

You may notice there's a large foot rest that wasn't on the first R56s in the footwell also. The foot rest and the glove box lead me to believe it's an anti-submarining feature.

yeah what is up with that footrest? why would anyone want that?? If I put the passenger seat all the way back I can't see out that tiny side window, but then there's less legroom- that makes it even worse!

Yes it has the secret compartment , and the glove box looks ok to me. Maybe if I saw the thinner one installed I might change my mind.
