Had a Fight with an Audi A8 an won!

Now, I am sure you are going NO WAY. But let me explain. First my dad said NEVER pick a fight you are not almost sure you can win.

I am sure you have been there. You are the first car at a stop light. The lane to your right is going to end as soon as you get the other side of the intersection. They are all over the place on the east coast.

Well I am in the lane that was not going to end... and a very hot looking Audi A8 pulled into that lane that was going to end. You know what he was going to do, as soon as the light changed he was going to gun it, and change lanes in front of me (or who ever) before the lane he was in ended.

I WAS HAVING NONE OF THIS. Not to be an ***, but I had the top down, having a great day, and frankly needed a little of a rush.

So the light changed green. He and I gunned it... I was off the line faster than he was... he did not know he was in a race yet. He sees what's going on and really guns it... Now I told you I do not pick fights I do not think I can win, and I know that the ONLY way I was going to win this was he was going to run out of tarmac before he could get around me...

He cannot get around me... but as I looked over he was looking at me with this HUGE grin on his face. The fact that I had taken off much faster than most of the other traffic he had plenty of space to change lanes BEHIND ME!

As he pulls in behind me, I hold up my hands and waved and game him a thumbs up. He came around on the left and said gave me a thunks up and rolled down his window and yelled now I am in trouble with the wife... she yells you were beat by a mini. They both were laughing.

So I beat a A8, in a very very specific race

I enjoy this game (and win often.) but I almost forced a 5.0 Mustang into a parked car because he was so confident he'd overtake me. He was flying up on my right as the light went green but I pulled away quick enough to get ahead. I floored it and caught him by surprise I guess. He couldn't get ahead enough to pass and he had to slam on the brakes before hitting a stationary minivan.

I hate being cut off mid-intersection, but I don't do this as aggressively any longer, because I'd hate to bully some moron into his grave just to make a point.

There are a lot of people out there that do not realize the potency of the R56 MCS. I had the owner of a Nissan 370Z Roadster (w/ aftermarket SS exhaust) find out yesterday. We took off from the light together, I changed lanes to pass a truck, changed back, and after I merged onto the Interstate and slowed down to 65mph, then he came flying around me. I am waiting for a 5.0 Mustang or even a Subaru WRX STi to play. I am always welcome to a good challenge. Congrats on your victory.

I beat some dumb Blonde in an Acura yesterday, I along with 4 other MINIacs on our way to a FUN filled and absolutely gorgeous day on the Oregon Coast at the Lakeside Crawdad Festival, Lakeside, OR. She was a bit POd that we were sittin' out in the Fast Lane and thought she'd wiggle her way into our convoy, no Blinker no NOTHING...uh uh Sista'!! Except she came anyway and she had me pinned between her and the cement barrier to my left, my left tire was running along the Rumble Strips, I was having to keep my eyes on the road, eyes on her, and lay on my Horn the whole time...she FINALLY backed off and my Sweep took care of her!!

Sadly it is something I have experienced many times before while driving the Molly Car, I don't know what it is about a MINI but other people get so jealous of our Great Little Cars. I usually just laugh it off, but this time she would have been face to face with ME, ready to KILL and 8 other MINIacs ready to back me up!!

Given you got jump on him and the short distance he had to recover is the only reason you won. Although the A8 is bloated at over 4400 lbs compared to the MINI in the 2550 lbs range, the A8 still has a significant power to weight advantage (~12 lbs/HP vs ~14.5 lbs/HP) along with all wheel drive and an 8 speed trans. If he had a full lane and a little more time to make up for sleeping at the light you would have been spanked. I'm not putting down MINI's, I love mine, but they are NOT stop light rockets. Physics is physics, lower weight / HP will always win. Your MINI didn't beat an A8, YOU beat the driver of the A8.

HA HA I'm too old to know what is IBTL!
But now I looked it up.

Double Dibs on IBTL!

What I do is look like I'm racing off but really don't.
Then the stupid billybob beside me has to choose between
beating the regular mini/CRX, or making the payment
on his trailer (at least when gas is $4+).

They always choose to beat I should say "beat" because I'm not
racing, but for whatever reason billyjoejimbob can't stand the idea
of something with 100 hp "beating" him.

I did this to a newer silverado. Almost the exact same circumstances. He was less than pleased though. Revved his engine at the next light after the lanes split to 2 again and all that jazz but I just let him go. I figured I took enough of a chunk out of his ego when a mini beat his fancy truck haha

36 Rofdder, Your correct, I was very clear in my OP that the odds were stacked in my favor. So at the end of the day I did beat the Audi A8 that was next to me. The real part about my story is that (Unlike most of the time) we both were happy with the results! All of us had a were laughing.

That said, it is my story, so I will tell it anyway I want

When I was first married, many moons ago, hubby had a red Camaro. I didn't like the car but sometimes had to drive it. Just for fun, I would do this to people. Race them when they didn't expect it, then not race at the next light. It was highly entertaining. If you pick your 'victim' well, you can absolutely ruin his day with very little investment in gas.

But I never raced on a merging lane. I don't have the nerves for it.

That's hilarious! Good for you... and the MINIacs.

Out here it's Audi's, Mustangs, and the occasional Ferrari. I used to drive a Prius. I'm having fun with these people now.

OK I'll go IBTL
I slowride the city streets now, 5-10 miles slower than the limit. Except in mountain roads and a few curvy streets in town. The other day an SRT-4 next to me at the lights revved it as to call me out for a street race and he left screeching tires like a bat outta hell, but I just waited for them to leave.

No offense but drag racing on public streets by other people puts MY life in danger and bragging about it on a forum is dumb.
