Yea it really stinks. I'm really unhappy about it but it could have been a lot worse. To me it looks horrible but everyone else that saw it said it was a piece of cake. Ha. They wouldn't be singing that tune if it were their car.

I just hope the repair comes out perfect.

It's not the weather trust me. It's the idiot drivers. I swear most drivers on this side of the mountain have no idea how to drive a car. They think they own the road and can control all. Evil they are evil!!

The shop is right, Pat. That kind of superficial damage is easily repaired without a hint any damage ever was there. And probably not even a reportable repair under Carfax.

But talk to the at-fault carrier about a Diminished Value claim anyway, since your Coupe is so new.

FYI, sitting @ 20,500 and I finally got that radio button sorted out. I actually waited until I had another minor problem crop up, rather than take it in for JUST that. The chrome inserts on both door sills were coming unglued and curling up at the ends. Naturally, since I waited to combine multiple silly issues into 1 visit, they had to order a new radio & I went back today to get it replaced.

@ 2800 miles with no big problems.

couple minor problems
1. rattle (just like everyone else) from rear passenger side. VERY annoying on uneven road without any music playing.

2. 2 resets on all the options I set via MINI-Connected. (including stations etc.)

3. seatbelt is sometimes stuck behind the chair so when i pull it (without really paying attention) it sometimes gets stuck behind the chair. Its caused a scratch on the side of the inner panel.

4. Engine-Pressure low (CEL) came up once but disappeared right away. It happened literally 2 days after I picked up the car. After speaking to the technician at the dealer, I decided to just hope it was just a one time glitch. Its never happened again yet.

Got my car back from the body shop. They had it for 3.5 weeks. Minor repair but most of the wait time was for parts and the repair shop battling with the insurance company over more time needed etc.

The repair is perfect. I've gone over it with a fine tooth comb including measuring gaps and seams , looking at the paint in every conceivable way and light and I cannot find a flaw. I am completely satisfied. It took a long time for the repair but it was worth it. Final tally was $2700.

So as it stands now I am at 10,300 trouble free miles, I got my car back and feel whole again.

Excellent news, Pat. Although I am not a bit surprised. Modern body repair shops do incredible work.

Considering a diminished value claim or not worried about that?

No I'm not going to pursue that type of claim. I don't think it is worth the effort and there is nothing that will be in the record books IE: CarFax etc.
If I ever sell the car (which is doubtful) I have well documented photos and a very good record of the repairs that were performed so I think any loss of value will be minimal. I just don't have the patience and I don't think the monetary value is worth the aggravation. I just want to drive. :-)

A month ago at about 9500 miles I started noticing the engine would miss a few times after it had been sitting all week. No idiot lights/codes until last week, now it is barely running on 2 cylinders and check engine is on. Gonna haul it to dealership (nearest bmw is 2 hours, nearest mini is 4 hours). Glad I just bought an 06 dodge diesel as backup.

That's not good. I haven't heard of too many problems with this vehicle thus far. A few things here and there but nothing seemingly major. Hopefully yours is something minor and can be repaired quickly. It would be great if you could check back and let us know what they find.

Thanks for the update and sorry for the hassle. Good luck.

The bumper had to be replaced and a corner of the rear hatch lid was bent. As someone else previously posted, I thought it was really bad!
Come to find out the shop I took it to said it was easy...it looks like it never happen.

3323 miles. Rear Park Sensors stopped working in the morning. 8 miles later, the radio screen went blank. Hoping this is not coming in threes.

If we consider random rattles from the interior trim, then I haven't had a single trouble-free mile.

But if we're talking mechanical, electrical, or anything that makes driving the car happen, then I'm at ~13,500km with absolutely zero faults. It's such a brilliant car to drive!

I originally started the thread and included squeaks and rattles as being not trouble free. But I really think this should include only mechanical items. Mechanical items would include such things as a bad hatch latch but not a squeaky piece of plastic. By excluding squeaks that may exclude most cars. LOL Though I must admit my car has been squeak free thus far. (Knock on wood.) I'm thinking eventually it will get squeaky as well. My R56 had some annoying squeaks as well!
