S Coupe insurance.

I'm curious to know if anyone with a VIN has looked into the cost of auto insurance. If so, please shed some light on the subject. Thanks in advance!

When I was checking insurance rates for my 2012 JCW, I didn't need a VIN to get a quote. When I was looking at my 2008 justa several years ago, I got a very accurate quote from my broker without a VIN (the quote was off by $1-2/month).

Not sure about where you live, but insurance is crazy here and you will need to be very specific on location, miles/year, etc. Best to call around rather than ask on NAM.

FYI I found in my location at least, a Cooper S was only $7 more per month than a justa. And the JCW was only $11 more per month than the justa. Not too bad IMO.

Got an insurance quote based on the VIN from my agent today.....an increase of only $4/month. That's incredible for a two-seater.....very happy about it.

Glad to find this thread. Looking forward to seeing what my hit is when I add an S Coupe to my policy...and then assign my 18 year old son as the primary driver to the car I'm driving right now (an '08 Toyota). It's encouraging to see that the Coupe rates don't seem to be higher due to it being a 2 seater.

Same here. Speed3 to Couper S, and my insurance with State Farm went down, although I forget the amount.

When I switched from an '06S with maximum coverage and limited tort (PA) to the same for a '12 Coupe S, my rates went up about $15 a month. But when I moved from DE to PA in my 06S, my rates went up about $150 a year.

Like they said above, it really depends on where you live. Philly is full of entitled, self-centered insane people with no spatial awareness so being run into is a pretty common thing. Insurance rates here are the highest of any place I've ever lived as a result. It's hard to see things when you only look two inches in front of your car and never look from side to side.

That said, good luck! I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at how insurable a Coupe is.
