Need new wheels - cost to install?

Have the 17" Infinite Streams (R116) on my 2013 MCS Cabrio. Two passenger side were damaged (curbed). I want to replace these wheels. What can I expect the cost will be per wheel to remount/rebalance the tires? The dealer quoted me $400 installed per wheel, but I'm finding these online for about $290 a piece. Does it really cost $100 per wheel to install?

Most any tire shop (that can do runflats if you have them) can do it...about $20-40 a tire....for mounting and balancing....and simply moving the tpms sensors from the old rim to the new rim.

$293 is wheel msrp. Balance, tire & TPMS change extra. ~$20 per wheel? I would think that a decent dealer would include the swap for the cost of the wheel, particularly if they have it on stock.

One tip...
The old rims still have value...
As is as winter rims, or spend $100-150, and a rim repair shop will fix them, make them look like new, and YOU can sell them (or keep them as spares for next time)!!
Do not let the tire shop keep them to dispose of them for you for free....or you are letting $$ walk away!! Remember, even if they did not hold air, they can still be fixed and even if broken in half, still have scrap valve of a buck a pound!!

This is one well respected shop in my area...bet IL has a bunch that are similar!!

Typically, this involves 1 of 3 options:

Straighten: The customer has a vibration problem
Refinish/restoration: Includes straightening, the customer has an ugly wheel that has been scratched, oxidized, or run down a curb. We can swap out for a refinished wheel from stock or do their own.
Replace: If the wheel is badly damaged or not repairable, it can simply be replaced with a used wheel or an outright purchase of a refinished wheel.
The wheel is first checked in and visually inspected for cracks and bends. It is then straightened if necessary using our proprietary straightening process to within +/- .010 inch. It is then cleaned and sandblasted. Now, any missing pieces are welded back in, and machined down. Next the wheel is primed using top quality etching primer for the best possible adhesion and corrosion resistance. Then OE matched color is applied in two coats, and two coats of clear are applied over the color. The wheel is then cooked under a shortwave light for ultimate hardness and abrasion resistance. The final product is in fact of higher quality than the OE finish, and carries a limited warranty against chipping, peeling, or discoloration.

Painted or machined Wheels up to 17"--- $170 *
Painted or machined Wheels 18-19"--- $195 *
Painted or machined Wheels 20" and up--- Call for details
Hyper color paint finishes are subject to a $25 surcharge--- Call for details
Polished wheels--- Starting at $225 --- Call for details
Two or three piece wheels"--- Starting $295--- Call for details
They often have OEM in stock so you can pay for the fix, and just EXCHANGE your rims....bet a few places do it the same way in your area...look around!!

Call us to book an appointment and when you arrive you will wait in our reception area (with Free WiFi) while we lift your vehicle, remove the wheels you want inspected, straighten them, re-mount and re-balance your tires with our high sensitivity balancing machines and re-install them to your vehicle all while you wait!
Call us for a full list of installation and wheel/tire package swap options available!
Sounds like moving the tires is EVEN included!! Makes sense!! Like I said...look around!!
NEW is not your ONLY option!

I didnt read this correctly, you are getting wheels... get the wheels online and go to the little guy it'll cost you about $30. We buy our wheels online too and then charge what we pay for the wheels.

I charge $12 per balance, $10 per mount and $5 per valve. Then you either pay $2 to dispose of old tires or you take them with you.

I find that I usually provide cheaper prices than tirerack when customers buy them new from me. I posted on a thread before and I'll post again. Please people check your local businesses before going straight to the internet! These uber-cheap stores are killing the small businesses off. If you're saving only a little bit by buying online then take it to the small guy. I promise he will appreciate it.

The part of the story that I left out is that I called 3 different mini dealers and they each quoted me 3 different prices per wheel: $288, $300, and $405! A part is a part and how dare a dealership try to insult my intelligence by marking up the price of a wheel by $100. I can easily google it to get the list price.

Now I know what MINI dealer I will never do business with.

I did not mention that I originally had the 2 wheels repaired through the wheel repair shop that the BMW/MINI dealer sends them to - they smoothed away the scrapes and fully repainted each. At the end of the day I was not happy with the outcome because the color not a perfect match to the OEM paint, the reflectivity / metallic pearlescence was different, and it seemed like the clearcoat layer was either thin or nonexistent. I compared it to me buying a can of silver spray paint from my local hardware store.

The service manager at MINI has been great in working with us to make it right. I am supposedly the first customer to not be happy with the work of the wheel repair shop. I've used this shop in the past when I bent a rim going over a pothole and was quite happy with their work, but no painting was needed.

Get wheel as cheap as you can and take them to a aftermarket tire shop. I dumped my Runflats and they charged about $20 a wheel.

A really good wheel repair shop should have been able to do the matching for you. I'm surprised if its a dealer go-to, but I'm also kind of not since some dealers don't put that much attention to detail. Most wheels don't have a brilliant glossy clearcoat so I'll tell you that I've usually had that done afterward on my cars. Doesn't mean the paint (probably in this case) was done improperly just missing that final visual finish. To make things right for you just tell them you want all 4 wheels redone. Maybe you can take advantage and get a different wheel color. Gloss black, anthracite gray (like Style R99), etc. Getting new wheels seems like too much for you to spend for no reason. I won't lie and tell you on one of my M3x when I curbed two of the wheels I went and bought brand new OEM ZCP wheels from the dealer so I understand how it feels to not feel complete. I was kind of pissed and thought it was a bad idea but $ was a little more disposable then. If you're set on getting new wheels just continue to shop through some of the MINI vendors and get it as cheap as possible and then installed by any good tire/alignment shop. Don't have MINI install these for you, WAY too expensive for absolutely no reason.
