MY FIRST POST

Hello all. My name is Kendrick and I'm new to this forum. I'm coming to you all the way from Salt Lake City, UT. I'm jealous of all of you who have your MINIS already. Mine is on its way across the ocean as we speak and should be at the dealership by the end of the month.

MY MINI-
2007 Cooper S
Pepper White w/black racing stripes
Convienience Package
Cold Weather Package (it is Utah after all)
Sport Package
Premium Package
Rear Fog Lights

I would like to let everyone know of the misery I've had recently. My current car is a 2001 Volkswagen Passat. I LOVE the car, but a week ago a stupid deer thought he should jump in front of my car while I was going 70 miles an hour. Needless to say---HEAVY DAMAGE. SO- I'm out of a car till my Mini comes. I go to an auto auction hoping to buy a cheap car to get me by in the meantime. I end up buying a 97 Chevy Cavelier. I head home in it when all of a sudden my warning lights start going crazy. I overheated and blew a head gasket (apparently the radiator was completely void of coolant due to a leak). Needless to say, the car was and is a piece of **** and I will never own a Chevy ever again. It now resides in a junk yard. So now I have my Passat at the body shop for repairs and am driving a Ford Focus rent-a-car. I just wish I could fast forward to the end of the month. GO MINI!

I'm glad I waited until this year to buy a Mini. I didn't know that the car was going to be completely redesigned for this year. I'm very happy with the improvements and absolutely can't wait to do some serious motoring!!!

I can't predict the future, but indications are your life is about to undergo a DRAMATIC improvemment. Welcome to NAM. Be ready to take pics when your car arrives. This crowd is always hungry for pics. Heck, start in the showroom - I wish I had.

I think I'm going to name him "Montgomery".

Great name. Take a big drink of the kool-aid, realize that time stands still while waiting for a MINI and be ready for a fun ride.

Welcome.

Welcome to NAM. Sorry you had the beef with the chevy and the deer. Two things: Most deer avoid cars (you never see one driving) and most chevys' make it home (with enough required fluids to complete mechanical functions).
Sorry or your string of bad luck. Here's to reversing that streak!

Sorry for the bad luck. In my experience, there are very few truly "smart" deer in the world - though I do have one here that fetches me drinks from the fridge on command.

Congrats on your forthcoming MINI. You'll LUV it.

And Welcome to NAM!

Welcome to NAM from UT. I guess you're close enough to the "Great Northwest" to qualify. I lived in WA for 17 years and long to go back. Sorry about your encounter with the four footed pedestrian. We in Indiana have a serious deer population as well, I just try to keep very aware at certain times. Of course, you can't see into the woods to know what they're up to! I know you will love your new MINI! Happy Motoring!

Let me be one of the first to welcome you to NAM.

Congrats on your new MINI, Monty (Montgomery). May you both share many smiles and miles together!

It's good to hear that you were able to escape your encounter with that deer sans injury. Too bad your Passat can't say the same.

Don't fret too much over the time you spend waiting for Monty to arrive. The anticipation just heightens the excitement when delivery day arrives!

Congrats again and Motor On!

While you are waiting download the MINI manuel and spend some time reading it especially the programming functions. Additionally, the radio/cd requires some getting used to. Increased functionality has led to increased complexity for the user.

I already have! I enjoy complexity as it makes for a longer "getting to know each other period". I don't want the honeymoon to be over too soon!

Welcome to NAM!!! Sorry to hear about your problems with the deer and the clunker. My wife hit a deer in her Co. truck with a result of over two grand in repair but no damage to my wife, thank goodness. Hang in there, you'll be diddie boppin around Salt Lake City before you know it.

I'm sure I'm not the first to call my MINI "Montgomery". I would just like everyone to know that its after Chief Engineering Officer Montgomery Scott of the USS Enterprise, Serial Number NCC-1701. Yes, I'm a trekky. I'm even putting a Scottish Saint Andrews Cross film over the Sun Roof...
