Compensation for delivery delay!

- Ordered my R56 MCS in December

- Found out in Jan that like many other Minis my Mini was built without the Multi Function Steering Wheel

- Re-ordered early Feb

- When the re-ordered car got to the port in NY/NJ, it stayed there for 10 days without being assigned transport

- My awesome dealer gave me a new R53 loaner as I was left without wheels

- Finally got my R56 last week

Compensation for delay:

- $100 gift certificate for motoring gear

- Fourth year of scheduled maintenance, a $399 value

- Increased appreciation for the R56 after driving the R53 for about 10 days

Mini Rocks and so does my MA!

$399?

Funny how that's $899 when they ask you to pay for it...

That sounds a lot like my situation. I ordered in december as well, and I'm now on my second order due to order mixups. It's arriving in a week or two, 4 months after my first order. In light of this my MA gave me $500 in free accessories. It was enough to hold me over for a little while but now I just want my car...badly.

It's nice to see MINI USA and MINI dealerships doing the right thing by their customers by offering them some freebies.

Mistakes always happen - it's what you do about them that people remember.

Regarding the MFSW issue:

Ralph Schomp MINI here in Denver is fantastic. They basically came to me and said, "What can we do to make this right?" How's that for customer concern.

The rest is history.

Deposit in August.

Ordered in January.

Built the first week of February (but went back into paint causing a week delay).

Arrived at the VDC in Port Hueneme March 20th... and has yet to clear (so a week or so longer than average - no answers yet as to waht's up).

Estimated delivery in Tacoma... April 1st (hmmm...) and pickup arranged for the 7th.

I've been car-less since December.

I haven't been offered jack s%*#.

I was also quoted $399 to extend scheduled maintenance. But I'll make that decision in 2-1/2 more years. If you were quoted $899, that's robbery.

My MCS sat at the distribution center for a month. All I got from my MINI dealer was a, "We don't know why it's been there for so long." I still wonder what major work had to be done on it before the distribution center folks finally had it ready to send along to my dealer.

The car's great though. And this MINI dealer is still the best in the state. I'd recommend them to anyone who lives within at least a 300 mile radius.

By the way, the dealer threw in some rubber floor mats that say MINI on them. Not to look a gift horse in the mouth, but they're really flimsy. The driver's mat keeps riding up onto the accelerator pedal. They ain't much. Are these the standard rubber floor mat for our car?

Nice that you got compensated. I didn't get anything. Just some smugness. I do love the car though.

I sent an email to Mini via the owners' lounge asking if they planned to offer any kind of compensation to those whose cars were delayed because of the MFSW. After some time they responded wiht a $100 gift certificate for Mini merchandise. It's not huge, but I appreciated it. I spent it and $98 of my own on a yellow Mini pedal car for my grandson--just like Papa's yellow car. It is still possible that the dealer will make some sort of gesture, something I hope to find out tomorrow or Saturday.

Still waiting,

Joe s

My 2006 cabrio was delayed for a month because of the "double-VIN" issue, and to compensate, MINI USA gave all of the affected owners:

4th year of scheduled maintenance for free,
free cabrio wind deflector
$250 gift certificate for MINI accessories.

The dealer threw in a bunch of free stuff as well, but the three big items above were direct from MINI USA. I was very impressed, considering the delay was only a month.

msh441,

Not surprised. They're now backed up at least 6 mo before a production date. And they're adding $595 after msrp for the priveledge of waiting 8 mo for a car.

Portland's looking real good......

My understanding is that most folks who were MFSW'ed were given $50 or $100 gift certificate for Motoring Gear (if they asked for compensation that is). I got the extra 4th year of maintenance from Mini as a result of some extra effort put in by my MA I believe.

I doubt a dealer will be giving anything extra as it wasn't their fault. My dealer threw in carpet mats and a key chain which I believe is pretty standard.
