Nice to see you again MINIMobile. One thing I wanted to ask (for the NFR database). What did you name your mini?

Secondly, I haven't used the rear power...so it hasn't done anything yet. The only problem I've had is the infamous "Check Engine Light"....and all it says is that my gas cap is loose...even if it isn't. They're still trying to figure it out.

Um...I guess I have to admit that I haven't named her yet and she really does need one. We keep calling her the MINI.

There is a Chili Red MINI near me with the license plate "CINIMINI". I really like that and feel it would fit a NFR far better. Would it be inappropriate to stalk this MINI and show it the error of its ways?

Hmmm....

Hehe. It's not about winning. It's about how you arrive. Er,..sumptin like that. I have not seen any numbers at all on the sales of the Mini.

WTG! Gotta lub those road trips.

I think you're under-rating yourself Mobile...you can do it if you try! How ever are you going to win with that attitude?

Yes, yes. If going forward means you have to eat a lint ball or two, then let not the path be lost to the bearers of lint!

Juxtapose yourself to the wrong thinker and outwit the vermin with keen intellect, quick wits, and tacos! Move forward so you dunt(tm) get a crick in yer nexk from looking backwards!!!

I just found that cigarrette lighter-style power supply in the truck. Funny, no idea it was there.

Here's a dumb question I feel too dumb asking anywhere else. Is there no such thing as an adapter so you can plug in standard wall plugs? The car outlet is 12 volts, a wall outlet is 120 volts, right? So that huge difference is why that doesn't exist?

It's vaaary frustrating 'cos I have a good handvac, but there's no outlets near where I park! I would a 100' extension cord to run one from my building!

It is all a compromise. You can buy step-up transformers which will convert the 12V DC to 120V AC, but the cost is the very low amperage (current) available after that conversion.

You simply cannot wave a magic wand to get more power (watts) from a circuit. 12V DC @ 20 amps is 240W. 120V AC would leave a maximum of 2 amps of current. That would be an absolute best case. Realistically, it would be around 1.5Amps of current.

Work for you is like lunch to me. Something to keep my head from making noises.

Hmmm,..if that makes sense to anyone, would you mind explaining it to me? I seem to have disjuncted the socket while prodding the castipher.

there's two parts of my brain that don't work so good. foreign languages and electrical stuff. I guess the electrics in my brain run on too few amperes.

and vodka is primarily what keeps the noises in my head quiet!

As long as the noises in your head isn't whistling when you stick your head out the window..you're doing ok!

But,....if I dunt(tm) stick my head out the window,..how can I see where I am going? The sunscreen on the windshield does a great job of keeping the inside cool, but there is that one nagging thing.

Having to drive with yer head out the window.

That's what we do up here when our windshields ice up and the wipers become useless accessories! But you have to wear one of those face-shield burglar masks.

I guess those would be better than the cardboard box I use. I tried a garbage once. Uhmmm,..let's just say that did not work out very well. Seems the humon body has a fit when it cannot breathe. Go figure.

I think Bubbles has company!

I heard a rumor that another NFR with black roof just arrived in Wpg....it's the first one here after mine. It'll seem funny to have another one around! I'm not so unique anymore!

Well, let's just say the car isn't as unique anymore....me...I'm another matter!

Hi, Guys (and Gals)
I've been gone quite a while....working way too much. I need advice on a couple of issues....and you're my best source.

Oil changes.....MINI says 15K miles or something ridiculous like that, but there seem to be varying opinions. When do you plan to change yours?

Ding....Ding....Ding.....somebody scraped Chessie's passenger door bad enough to need to repaint the whole door....and I was parked next to a fire lane at a nursing home!! (THEY parked IN the fire lane....but I never saw them...just the damage they did.) My dealer is 130 miles away, and there is a REALLY good body shop in town.....but it's my baby! Where would you take it....if it was yours?

Glad to see you're all still around....and our group has grown! NFR is still the best color! Skuzzy, how're you coming with the NFR badge?

I'd get the best in town Twings....nice to see you back! And...the oil change...it's synthetic oil, and you don't need to change it very often....In Canada, it's about 25,000 kms....(about the same as yours) and I'm not going to change it just because it doesn't sound right...trust the synthetic.

Hail no!

Did anyone get hail in the storms over the last couple days? My car is usually parked in an uncovered lot and I was freaking out when the weather man started talking about 1.5 inch hail.

A couple minutes before the storm hit I got selfish and decided to move my car into the covered area my apartment complex has for car washing (Finders keepers!). It rained hard but there was no hail, thank god. I felt a little guilty about taking the only covered spot, but no one else has a two month old car!

Heya Twings,..been missing you. I finally got the mill all up and running and am in the final stages of doing some designs and test runs before I go all out on it.

Twings, you are in Texas, so my recommendation for oil chanes is to ignore what Mini thinks is right. Our temperature/weather etremes call for a more agressive oil change interval. I am doing Romi once every 6 months or 4,000 miles, whichever comes first. I try to get it done just before our major weather changes in the Fall and Spring.

Sorry to hear about the ding. That truly sucks. I do all my own paint. What part of Texas are you in?

eejphotog, we missed out on the hail storms, just barely. Dunt(tm) feel guilty about protecting Sir Ranulph. If you dunt(tm) do it, no one will. Besides, most car owners pray for hail so they can get a new car out of the insurance company.
