Very pleased with MPG!

I always take MPG estimates with a full pinch of salt, but it looks like we're going to get the numbers MINI promises. We just returned from a trip into Houston--full 70 mph cruise on the freeway, and not yet broken in--we got over 35 miles per gallon! That's without doing anything special. I'm sure things will only improve from here!

SWEET!!! hopefully MPGS will be more consitant from car to car, instead of some getting in low 30's while others are in the mid to low 20's

MPG does seem to improve as the miles pass, mine's gone up after 2500 miles.

I just did my first fill up.. averaged 29.7mpg

75% highway 25% city

daff - using cruise during break in miles isn't too good according to my MA since you are fluctuating your speed and keeping it steady. and R56MCS is in UK (hence his location)

I've got 250+ miles on less than 1/2 tank so far.. just picked up the car Monday and took it on the highway today..

very very smooth...and almost too much power.

When you think you're doing 65-70 and you realize you're doing 90.. it's a mix between a good and a bad thing

Are you calculating it by mileage and gallons at the gas pump? or using the built-in computer's calculations?

I believe you are correct Pez, but standard or auto?

Not trying to be a hard **** about it. I am just curious to see what the MC w/standard folks are getting. I am just getting antsy to get mine.

I've got an MCS, 6 speed. We didn't get a chance to calculate mileage--the pump was definitely off on the one time we filled up (how do you put 12.9 in a 13.2 gallon tank when you're NOT on fumes???!), and I forgot to look at the gallons when I filled up today (my bad). I can say that we've never seen it below 30.6, no matter what we were doing, and we reset the computer often. Today I was "playing" and I still got 35+ on the computer. I am getting well over 450 miles per tank, if that helps. No question this baby sips...

So you have not had a chance to calculate the mileage against the trip computer yet. I find the trip computers I have had normally have a consistent margin of error. The one in my Lexus is always +1 MPG optimistic.

Assuming the MC's is about that accurate, then I could presume my new MC will get a tad bit better (when she finally gets ordered and gets here).

Pez, forgot to mention that we're not using the cruise control much--only for a few minutes at a time, and only after we had about 400 miles on the clock. We've broken in several engines before, and we're very particular about it! Our BMW has gone 190,000 miles with no engine (or clutch/transmission) work...

I guess the numbers make sense for you

My cars average speed has been 38.9 and I was getting 30MPG. I filled up last night and got 12.8 gallons in it and I had 30-35 miles left according the the computer. When I filled up I had driven 370-375 miles.

I bet if I had a constant 50-60mph I would have been pulling around 33-35mpg possibly.

Ahhhh. I did not know that Pez. Thank you. I am still a bit ignorant, so pardon me for getting out of hand when I do.

MCS. We got 28 on the first tank. A mix of highway, city and an autocross.

Hey Daffodildeb,

That's great news, but I am not surprised. My '03 R53 was getting low to mid 30's on the interstate w/a combo of cruise control & manual driving at 70 mph.

My '06 JCW MCS seems to consistantly come in about 4 mpg less than the '03 MCS, on both city and highway miles. The new R56 is supposed to be better than our "old clunks".

Good to hear positive feedback/reinforcement on the '07's.

Hoodscoop in that RED MINI picture means S. And I've read enough of Deb's posts to be pretty sure she's running a six speed manual tranny. Go Deb Go!! Am I RIGHT, Deb??

Happy for ya on that mileage, and looking FORWARD (steering wheel debacle) for my REORDERED MCS to get here. I believe my original car is on the lot. I don't wanna see THAT!!

GRMPer--you ran an AUTOCROSS during your break-in miles?!

Surfblue--you're right, an automatic was never an option! That's for her big brother BMW--my husband's car.
