MFSW - a different question

Anyone have the MFSW without phone/bluetooth?

I didn't order the phone or convenience package, and I'm wondering if I'm going to end up with two nonfunctioning buttons, blanks, etc...

I would hope that they have two faceplates... one for MFSW with phone, and one for MFSW without.

Thanks

I have the non functioning buttons on my 06 MC...not sure on the 2007 models but from what I have seen they will all have the buttons functional or not.

yep, you are going to have two non-functional buttons on the MFSW.

... But on the 06 models there are aftermarket options to utilize one or possibly both buttons for other interesting uses (e.g. mute the radio)... hopefully similar options will be available for the R56

Muting the radio is a good function. I was disappointed that was not one of the functions. An ideal function for the other left over button is to be able to switch between radio/cd/aux. With that you can control the entire radio from the wheel.

On the old 2-spoke multifunction there was a Source button for the radio, very handy. I'll miss that button for sure in getting the 3-spoke's "Nintendo" multi-function buttons. Reusing the phone buttons for other functions [like mute and source] would rock, as they are just on the Can or K bus most likely.

Grrrrrrrr... I wend back and added rear fogs in order to avoid having a blank where a toggle should go. Those non-operating buttons are going to annoy the crap out of me.

Didn't think about that. Glad I ordered the rear fog. I hate blanks, too. I'm sure they do it to squeeze some extra $ out of people. I know it helps in production, but it is actually pretty easy for the manufacturer to have a hidden punchout on the back surface.
