R56 Radar Anyone?
Just a note.. If you plan on hardwiring your radar.. The fuse box has moved to the passenger side and Add a Circuits that people so frequently used on the 02-06 MINI's dont work.. (Well they do but the fuses are much smaller)
Locate 12 volts switched power in roof
I was able to locate 12V switched power amongst the sunroof/light switches. It is also suprisingly easy to remove and there is plenty of room up there to hold a fuse as well as the "telephone" converter for those of you that also use V1's. To remove - and waring this is all coming from memory - the grey covering panel just unlcips and pulls off. The remaining panel is held on with 2 torx screws. After you remove the screws it should just fall down or come down with a little pull. If I recall there was one black plug that looked like it had a little thicker guage wires. I think I tapped into the purple with blue stripe or purple with green stripe. Make sure you use a volt meter to test. The hardest part was to find a good ground. I orginally tried on the sunroof motor bolts that are clearly visible and easily accessable but they were no good. There is a 10mm bolt on the left side behind the sunroof motor that you can barely get to with a staight socket that provides a good ground. Again my disclaimer that I am not responsible for the information contained in here. Any thing you do you do so at your own risk.
Probably not as embarassed as my wife was after she tried using a personal shaver for a week before insisting it "did nothing." Turns out she did not see or remove the plastic cap covering it.

I just got the Escort 9500i. I haven't used it enough to use the GPS false alarm block-out feature. That seems like it will reduce the anoyance factor a lot, but will report back one I program them in and report back with my overall impressions. I have seen that it does detect real radar with tons of advance notice! That is very impressive! I expect I'll be hardwiring it sometime soon -- I hate the coil wire going down the dash face.
I don't have a sunroof so I'm thinkinkg that controll cover would be a great place to wire in, if possible. Just not too sure I want the wire running up the center of my windsheild. I'll have to explore more.

This is the strategy I would recommend for EVERYONE. And the one I religiously employed for 10 years before getting my MCS, which eradicated my previous ticket addiction...
But alas, Blimey keeps hearing stories of Tess Turbo going 130mph on the Autobahn and he pulls like a sled dog wanting to go faster...
Sorry for the pulput lectures earlier. Everyone buy anything you want. Just drive safely. PLEASE don't think that because you CAN drive fast, that always means it's BEST to drive fast... save it for the track.
Oh yeah... but if you have a brain and the cash you'll buy a V1.
Just kiddin.

I got the V1 so I'll know to be ready for potential slow-down up ahead as cars slammed on their brakes when they see the cops.I never took having a V1 as an excuse to go as fast as I like. It's a *tool* to help me motor more safely.
I have always been a big fan of the V1, I have had it through three different cars. Obviously we have all had our differnet experices but this V1 has saved me for than a few times
next task is to hardwire it to my MCS. Gotta make some time

. And I read that the default limit is something like 150 MPH
But it's all hearsay.
