R56 Waiting for your car from the NJ VDC
Waiting for your car from the NJ VDC
I thaught I would start this thread in an attempt to see if there are many more people who are waiting for their car to move from NJ to their dealers door. I have had my car sitting at the VDC in NJ since 1-10-07. My dealer seemed to think that it would have no problem making it to the dealer in time for launch day. I was and am still scheduled in the owners lounge for a 2-18-07 delivery date. As of 2-20 my car has not been released to carrier yet.
So do any of you have a similar problem? I know that it bothers me a lot that my car is just sitting there and not being transported. I also know that my dealer alone has 8 cars at least that have been at the VDC a week or more. In fact my MA told me he's gotten no customer ordered cars yet, only launch vehicles. Why is this the case? It seems to be confined to the NJ site. This site in NJ didn't really get much if any snow last week, I didn't hear about any strikes or work stoppages, they must be filled to the brim by now with cars.

I ordered my car the first week in December and it has also been sitting in the NJ parking lot since 1/10. I was told it would be here by the launch date of 2/17. Yesterday (2/19) I spoke with my MA and basicaaly was told "it gets here when it gets here". Meanwhile, people are walking into the showroom and buying new 20007's right off the floor. I think thier attiitude is "if you don't like it, don't let the door hit you on the way out".
Another boatload.......
Another boat load is due 2/21/07( I know this because " hopefully" mine is on it according to my MA and the WW site) Not good if its going to sit in NJ for another month however...... My dealer is outside Philly, wonder if its cars going to NYS or is it all cars recieved at the NJ VDC???????

I echo your problem in the Southeast, where the Greer NC, VDC held my car past the launch delivery date (2/17, in Atlanta, Ga.). The problem was further compounded by the transport carrier receiving the car on 2/14/07 and then "taking off" for the Daytona 500/President's day weekend with the cars parked loaded on the carrier.
I ordered my car on 11/28/06!
The Mini dealership indicates that my "sold vehicle" is classified as a priority #1 status above the "dealer inventory" priority #3 status. Interesting, since the dealer has been receiving cars for the past 10 days into their inventory, while my car has been sitting at the VDC.
My frustration is that my previous BMW experience was
similar with what I refer to as a "non-customer oriented arrogance". I never felt this way with my Porsches or other sports cars.
I am now scheduled to take delivery of the car tomorrow 2/21/07 - I only hope that this was worth the wait, and not an indication of the type of service/support to expect on this vehicle.

My MA is fine, I dont call often maby 3 times since december, always with a purpose. I see how snow might have added a day or two but that storm was a week or more ago, and the coast was spared any signifigant weather except for heavy rain and some sleet. Besides if each dealer got launch cars than how bad could it have been?
Glitch in the space-time continuum?
My car arrived in NY/NJ on 2/2 (Don Juan was the boat). The OL still lists my car as having an estimated delivery date of 2/9! At this point, I'm wondering if all our cars were squished on the boat and are being reconstituted at the VDC.
Same experience. My car arrived at the NJ VDC on 2/5. OL tells me it'll arrive on 2/11. I haven't seen anyone boast about receiving a car that would have gotten it from NJ. SC however is delivering cars, folks in Texas and Georgia are getting them... Definitely would appreciate some feedback though. Can't blame it on the recent snow since cars have been there since January. It's frustrating that with the fantastic level of tracking you can do with the Mini it just turns into a black hole of info when it hits the VDC's. Askmini folks don't seem to know what's up - the MA doesn't know what's up. I'm beginning to think that all the training for the techs working at the VDC is down in SC and they just aren't ready for the new Mini's yet in NJ. Or there's a shortage of parts and SC gets them first because of the BMW factory in Spartensburg. Or even better, all the Mini's that arrived in NJ have the steering wheel assembly on the right hand side of the car... We'll forget about this frustration the day our cars arrive but in the meantime it's a horrible wait!!!
Yeah - I totally wondered about that too but then again there have been lots of shipments so that would be lots of squished Minis - how sad would that be! (Mine came over on the Freedom and there were 93 Mini's on that boat)
Same here.
Was at my dealership yesterday and he said he's waiting for 10 cars and NONONE has gotten their preorders yet. His attitude was a little lax also, as someone mentioned above.
There were only 2 new MINIs there at the dealership, that he admitted to, both floor/test cars.
My dealer is Prestige in NJ are we all going to the same dealer?
SC is not delivery everything..
Mine is still either in SC or on a truck between here and there...it's been at the VDC since the beginning of the month...
Very frustrating.. I have no car right now as I'd sold my other one in anticipation of having the car at launch date..
First time since I was fifteen I haven't had the independence of my own car... sucks my ****.

I wonder if it has to do with the training( MA and SA), my MA is in AZ this week for training. I would assume the VDC techs have been trained way before the 2007 started to arrive, however the Dealers are a different story.. Anyone elses MA at training this week from the Northeast?????

That is all exactly what I'm hearing
Hearing the same thing, that the car is in NJ, hasn't been released yet, they are trickling them out, etc. He says they have no control over it. Your dealer isn't Tate Mini in Annapolis, is it?
The roads are a little messy to drive on here right now anyway.

Good News, just got a call 10 minutes ago from my MA at Towne Mini, he said my car has been booked on a carrier today and should arrive Friday, possible Saturday delivery.

Update from mine as well..was supposed to be released to carrier on 2/14 arriving 2/19...now it's showing 2/20 and 2/23. Figure two days of prep time at the dealer (decal/tint) before I can get = next week==me not so happy.
