So after experiencing a lot of noise from the sunroof on my test drive today, I was wondering if anyone else noticed this problem?

 

Yeah, its been noted in other threads as well.

 

Looks like the SA's at dealerships will be busy early on trying to figure out a fix for this issue.

 

I assume that the wind noise issue that you are referring to is when it is open and at speed, not when it is closed and sealed.???

 

The one I drove Saturday was very noisy when closed and sealed. I opened and re closed it but it was still noisy. Worse in a cross wind. Most noticeable around 40 to 50 mph. I would be very unhappy with this noise. I did not order a moon-roof but it was not because of noise issues.

No it was noisy as hell when it was closed. In fact there was less noise when it was open.....

 

Does anyone have an R56 with a sunroof that is not noisy when closed?

Does anyone have one that was noisy and was able to have it fixed?

I still have time to change my order and consider the sunroof a luxury I can live without ...and if its going to be noisy it will make me nuts.

I've read that this was an issue that only affected the first batch and it has been corrected. Does anyone know if there is any truth to this?

I test drove an R56 with sunroof yesterday and noticed the noise. The MA opened and shut the sunroof and the noise continued. He said he had noticed it, and it had been pointed out by others who test drove it.
I'm supposed to take delivery of mine in two weeks (gets off the ship today, if all goes well), and I don't want to have to reorder without the sunroof and go thru the waiting game again, BUT.... I just might if there is no fix for it.
Anyone in the know have some good solid info and advice?

 

I just checked the MINI2 website under sunroof noise problems search for the r56, there are quite a few of them.

 

My MCS in in and getting the dealer prep work done. I went and took a look at it. While there, I drove another MCS with a sunroof. Took it up to freeway speeds. No noises and no rattles other than what you would expect from a small car. Avg. road noise and wind. This car is considerably quieter than the '06 I had driven before.

 

Ive been driving my car for a couple days now and mine is not noisy at all when closed, even in a crosswind and at highway speeds. I hate to hear of the noise problems, hopefully they were earlier models than mine!

For me, it was worth taking the gamble. I missed having a sunroof in my last car and just today I sat in my car waiting for someone and had it open. It was wonderful!

I'm pretty sure I saw yours on the lot. There was another MCS CR/W a couple down from mine.

I'm probably not going to take delivery until Saturday when I can find time to go back out there and when someone can take me. Still have to arrange the financing. I was happy to see that it had everything on the sticker I ordered (including MFSW). I also was happy to drive a tester to see for myself how everything worked and how the sunroof functioned.

I thought about you when I saw the other CR/W.
