I was at my dealer today and they told me that they got eight cars in yesterday and that any of them are avilable for purchase starting Saturday. I thought I had read somewhere on here that they couldn't sell those cars right away, but I guess I was wrong. The thing that gets me is that I have one that is stuck at the VDC. I thought that priority one cars were supposed to be delivered before dealer spec cars.

Anyway, I have had my MINI on order since October and now I find out that anyone can walk in off the street an drive off in a new one on Saturday. I know this is petty, but when you have been waiting for a long time I guess it starts to get to you.

It was nice to finally see the R56 in person though.

 

I havent been waiting since October but I still feel your pain. Mine is stuck at the VDC too and Im getting anxious!

 

Those first 8 cars are not "dealer spec". They are "launch" cars.

 

On the other hand, we're getting exactly the cars we want .. model .. color ..options .. What are the chances of these launch cars fitting exactly our wants / needs. But then again, we won't be the first with the R56 in our neighborhoods. Waaaa!

 

Well Saturday is the 17th, and that would be launch day, so I'd expect they could sell them then. Just not before then, even if they have them in.

 

The cars that will be available at dealerships on Saturday were pre-specd cars (1st month of North American Production). The dealers were not able to decide color, or any options. Therefore, they did not pre sell these cars as they were not able to tell a customer what they would be getting. The second month of North American production were the car that dealers were able to spec. This is why custom ordered cars are taking longer. Don't worry, pretty soon these cars will be everywhere, and no one will remember who got the 1st or 100th one.

 

If somebody gets their R56 3 weeks before you do, once you do get yours, your car will always be 3 weeks newer than theirs. No matter how long they own it, yours will always be newer. And there's nothing they can do about it, because they made the mistake of buying theirs first. Savor the feeling...

 

My MA told me the spec on these cars back in November. He said they would be in first and I could have my choice. I imagine all dealerships would have done the same if someone asked and wanted them.

 

I predict an R56 feeding frenzy!!! The only sad part is the rows of lovely '06s still sitting on the lot. Those looking on a deal on a MINI...here's your chance!!

 

Just got an invite from my dealer MA in W P B for The 07 Mini introduction party on Sat 17th, food and prizes . plus they are giving a 3 day/2 night vacation free to new Mini buyers. They did not state where, though. Also they are having a go away party for the 06 Mini ($17495) with free Lojack, Pinstriping, Floormats and Teph (teflon) Seal. A pretty good deal all in all.

that wouldn't be so bad...'east' Palm Beach is actually...Palm Beach island, a very upscale place to stay at. Just make sure you got your sweater thrown around your neck and speak with your mouth half closed, otherwise they won't let you on the other side of the bridge.
