Thanks for sharing. I always prefer to read owner reviews over test-driver ones

Thanks i'm only a few behind you huh.

Now back on topic R56MCS have you seen an 07 with the NAV in it yet? I've heard that the Speedo doesn't move to the wheel but becomes part of the NAV. any truth to this?

thanks

Really? It is different than the old leather on the steering wheel? I really like mine, and don't think it feels plasticky at all.

It's on miniusa.com, so I guess we do!

Congrats on the new ride

As reported and shown in pics here and elsewhere (White Roof Radio, MotoringFile, MINI2)... speedo stays in the center.

Thanks for the post. It is much better now hearing good words come from someone driving the car then someone on just a test drive. Less then 2 months hopefully before I can drive mine.

Also check out this very good writeup on MINI2 from a new owner of a non-S R56 Cooper with aero kit (lots of pics):

Here are some pictures from the MINI2 thread referenced above. Many people feel that the center speedo is a unique signature feature of MINI, and hate giving it up for a Nav. BMW must have made a special effort to keep the speedo in the center even with Nav. The new Nav makes much better use of the display, for example integration with the stereo, and in particular will display information from the new iPod adapter.

Hey R56MCS,

Thanks so much for the pictures and now the owner review. I'm waiting on an astro black R56 MCS myself in the US, and I printed out the pictures of yours and have one on my office wall. It looks great. I'm doing a few different things, but most of the same.

Anyway, I've got some questions.

I think you got the black lounge leather seats. I understand they are slightly different in the US, but if you do have them, could you tell me if the light colored trim on the seats is pure white or cream white. (?) I was told it is cream white and should match the cream white color line. If it is pure white I don't think it will match. (It sure looks pure white in pictures.)

Also does your car have chrome line exterior? It's hard for me to tell what the difference is. I did the chrome line exterior and interior. Have you seen a chrome grill for the MCS?

And lastly, what stereo system did you get? What do you think of it.

Thanks again!

- R

Looks like the chrome lined exterior with body colored mirror caps. Notice the chrome trim below the front & rear bumpers, door handles and boot handle.

Looks like the chrome lined interior as well (based upon the trim around the speedo), but would need to see more pics to be sure...

***hint, hint***

Great write-up! Makes me think alittle more about the R65 still to poor and paying on my current cooper, but when 09' rolls around, I'll definatly have to think about it hard .

on the flipside, i found the standard suspension to be too soft and rolly, and i specced the sports suspension, which is in my eyes what the standard suspension should have been like !

that and 17's on runflats :D
