R56 Colors in the US Configurator
Colors in the US Configurator
OK, I'm jazzed about the configurator being available, but the representation of the colors is bothering me a bit.
Does Dark Silver look a little too light here? Does the Mellow Yellow look a little too Liquid Yellow? Does the Sparkling Silver not look quite as much as Desert Sand Mica as have the photos?
(Also the configurator proves my theory I think that previous "Lightning Blue" sightings have been Laser Blue instead.)
-W-
(Now it's between Pepper White, Lightning Blue, and Dark Silver)

I don't trust the configurator, really...I had trouble making a meaningful distinction between Chili Red and Nightfire Red...and the difference in reality is huge. So...additional research on colors is required.
Mellow Yellow is great...I think the mac & cheese comparison is (thankfully) a bit off. Mac & cheese is not mellow enough
.
I was under the impression that Jet Black was gone forever...or until they decide to bring it back everwhere except North America.

Isn't the GP Lightining Blue? If so, see a GP and know what Lightning Blue looks like.

The GP was Thunder Blue. I am surprised that the configurator Lightning Blue does closely resemble Thunder Blue. There is a picture over on MINI2 of a car that is supposedly Lightning Blue, and it is a slightly darker shade of blue that Hyper Blue on the current gen MINI. Definitely doesn't look like the GP Thunder Blue.

I agree, LY is a great color.
OK, Let me get this straight... You mean to say that there will be another shade of Blue added to the R56 later on in '07?
Where did you pick-up this bit of information and if correct, will it be for the "S" or the Cooper or for both?
Questions, questions...
on the MiniUSA configurator, I'm sure they were too lazy to update the proper colors. For example, I'm sure "lightning blue" is actually one of the blues found on the 2006 convertable.
Hyper Blue seems to be the best of the blues over the years, though it was not my first choice for my 2006 MC. I probably would have gone purple but it wasn't available for 2006. No regrets about what I got. It's amazing how much the colors vary on the internet, not just the configurator but also pictures posted by Mini enthusiasts. My great fear was that the Hyper Blue would have an aqua tint to it, --much like the blue Chevrolet used for the Camaro in the mid-1970s. Turns-out it is much richer and bolder. Still, I would have liked to see the purple with a silver roof. That would have been cool, very cool.
I was at Classic in Mentor the other day and they had a brochure with colors. The Lazer Blue could be a twin sister of Electric Blue Metalic. An the yellow was more Liquid than Mellow.
But then, what do I know about colors. To my eyes dark blues, dark purples and some blacks sometimes all look the same!

The colors from the 2007 PDF brochure are much better:

There is another blue coming called Oxygen Blue but it hasn't been seen yet.

That PDF appears to be pretty far off on my mac. I'll need to see these colors in person to really be able to decide. I'm a little baffled why they call sparkling silver silver. It's definitely some other kind of color.
I really with the S came in nightfire Red.

Theres one of those here in KC...purple w/ a silver roof and silver stripes...it's very very cool...
