2013 R56 here

Battery was confirmed good

Car locks and unlocks but when inserted in the dash nothing happens. Nothing lights up. Car will not start. Made a small mechanical noise and the screen blipped the first few times I tried starting it. Hasn’t done it since. I tried replacing key fob battery. No luck. My next step was to buy a new key fob as maybe the chip itself went out.

Before I do so. Any tips? Am I on the right path? Thanks in advance.

Most of the time its the key.
