Codes P0300 P0302 P0304

I am getting the above misfire codes on my 2009 R56. Cylinders 2 & 4. Car runs fine and pulling great. I will replace the NGK plugs. They are 40k into the 60k service interval.
120k on the vehicle.
Anything I may be missed….coils?

While I am waiting for new spark plugs I have just switched the coils. #4 with #3 and #2 with #1. Same codes so not the coils.
I will switch plugs in the morning and see if that changes anything.

As I mentioned. The car runs and drives ok, but obviously something is amiss. Over the Winter I installed a new valve cover , (faulty PCV valve )and had to replace the thermostat.

I had to walnut blast my intake valves on my n14 to get rid of misfiring. Mine had new plugs, which I swapped every year, and new coils and still had misfiring. Valves cleaned and everything back to normal.

Thanks Jason.
I will switch the plugs around this morning.

I did have an issue two weeks ago for a couple of days where the car would struggle to start from cold. It would fire up but run rough for about 10 seconds and then clear. If I then stopped the vehicle, it would then fire straight up. The car has been ok since then.
I was suspecting the High pressure fuel pump, but could be carbon build up. The valves were cleaned at 83k miles. The car gets regular 24 mile highway runs and is not used really for around town stuff.

If you are looking for a hpfp for your n14 pm me, I have a brand new OE pump here I’m willing to part with very cheaply, I bought it for my clubby, from FCP euro, and never put it on and sold the clubman. I paid 600 shipped am I’m seriously willing to let it go for half that shipped.

Thanks Jason. I will keep your offer in mind. We just need to check that the HPFP you have is compatible with the turbo N14.
Appreciated.

Not a fan of switching plugs. With car engines I consider plugs something to be installed and left alone until they are due to be changed on time/miles. If there a problem for which plugs might come under suspicion I would just replace the old plugs with new plugs. New factory plugs and gapped correctly.

Replace the plugs but with these misfire situations I can't recall the last time it was plugs. Or coils. It is always something else. But fingers crossed it is the plugs.

I will need to go and educate myself on these Vanos solenoids, so no, I have not cleaned them.
After I switched the plugs ( new are on order) and cleared the codes I didn’t get the engine light come on so no codes, which I was expecting. Car started fine.
However I have just tried to start the car and it struggled to start but then ran ok. No codes.
I will look into the vanos solenoids.
In the meantime, it may be a good idea to look at replacing the HPFP.
Jason, do you have the”special “ tool for the low pressure line?.

if you watch a few YouTube videos you don’t need the special tool just a flat head. If you are serious about picking up a hpfp pm me I’ll make you a hell of a deal so I can get my tune. I’m serious I’ll let this go even cheaper, I just need the funds for my tune and I’m willing to let it go for that.
