I recently had to re-flash a corrupted FRM module do to a low voltage battery issue. During the initial removal of the FRM, I found an unconnected YELLOW/BLUE stripe wire with connector that appeared to be lodged under the module (see photo). It may have pulled loose during removal……. but thought I was careful. After re-flashing, I reinstalled the FRM WITHOUT connecting the mystery wire.
Everything operates correctly EXCEPT flashers and center / lower dash lighting for: (1) heater/AC/heated seat switch panel, (2) window/fog/lock switch panel, (3) sport/DSC switches, and (4) the four way flashers. Except for the four way flasher which doesn’t flash or light up, all the switches turn off/on their respective devices. Additionally, each switch light, i.e., sport switch green indicator and heated seat level lights work.
I have the FRM pinouts and wiring diagrams for the Body Control Modules but can make no headway. Yellow/blue stripe references all appear to be associated with the headlight circuit…. which are working correctly along with every other bulb except for the flashers.
Any help guidance, ideas, and/or direction will be greatly appreciated.
I have a question, how do you re-flash your FRM module? Mine needs to be done but I have to take my mini to an import garage for them to do it. Is there such a way that you can do it yourself?
Vanski..... Yes you can re-flash, but you need the software, cables, etc...... Look in ELECTRICAL for:
The Foot Well Module: functions, problems, solutions? and read the entire thread. LOTS of good info that will allow you to start to get your arms around the issue and the different approaches to solving it. I used rvgparts, an e-bay company to re-flash my FRM. Valentin (rvgparts) tested the module, re-flashed it and had it back to me in two days. It cost me about $65 + USPS flat rate postage. You must provide the the last 7 digits of the VIN, (anyone you use needs that info). Look on e-bay there are a few out there that will re-flash.
