Good evening, I've rebuilt my high pressure fuel pump twice now and it's time to buy a new one.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a pump that doesn't cost $700 that is of decent quality?
Thanks! Deez Nuts 😅
Hi there - I bought one on ebay for $128 (2 years ago) and it still works! Still in shock - but I'd do it again. Just search oem 9819938480 high pressure fuel pump and grab one!
Yes, I do know unfortunately! Any chance you recall who you bought it from on eBay? I realize they probably all come from the same factory somewhere in Asia but you never know... this is one of many examples advertised on eBay - AZ Parts.
We just sold out due to demand, we have more coming in soon. We hope to get them soon then the shown eta. Trying to work with supplier. Just watch on those ebay China ones as we have seen a bunch of failure. Post #91 https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ge-hpfp-4.html
Might have positive feedback overall because they sell a bunch of other non MINI parts but on that pump we seen failures in the china version.
ECS Tuning - I love you guys and buy a bunch from you.... but you're selling HPFPs out because they ALL fail.... so $150 is way better than $500+ .... just sayin'.
Yep, they fail but they last an avrg 2-3 years were as the China ones can (possibly) fail out of the box (due to the seals/tolerance errors), then your stuck and cant drive your MINI. What i have seen is when people run their gas low all the time then fill up this allows the system to pick up more junk in the fuel that get past the filter they hinders the pump. People that don't let there MINI get below a QTR(or lower) of a tank have reported a longer life,. I am still on my original pump from when my car was new and never let my car run below a QTR of a tank. I have an 2012 R58 JCW N14 with 123,000 miles, bought used at 18K . Pump was the original pump and still on it with no problems. This process seems to give life to the pump as they are very sensitive to clean fuel.
The other problem is some people buy these thinking it the pump when its really coil packs and plugs as the N14 and N18 engine require plugs and coil more often. They require plugs and coils more often then most MINIs or cars.
The proven one is the one we carry.
Thanks for the support. Just don't want people to be stuck.
Well said.... I too don't go under 1/4 tank. I heard this affects the regular fuel pump too?? BTW - Now, I always fill up at 1/2 a tank cause its "Cheaper to fill it!!!!" (In my mind) LOL
I've got a 2007 R56 S with 75K miles - it's a sleeper (no aftermarket exhaust - 300+HP) It's all under the hood! Maintenance is key to these cars.
I don’t buy it. I rarely fill up my tank before the gas light comes on, and I now have over 100k miles on my OEM Mini HPFP with now signed of it slowing down. I’ve also been running stage 2+ tune for almost all of that 100k miles, too.
Maybe it also plays into when and where you get the gas, i know some places will say don't fil up your car when the tanker in there as its stirs up the fuel and your more able to pickup dirt and junk that gets past the filter at the station (if they have one). My grandfather said the same thing and he ran a Gulf station all his Life ( it was leaded and then went to unleaded) , so maybe its changing the fuel filter more often or just better gas in the area. The HPFP Uses fuel to lube its system so that plays a big part of it.
I just purchased a new HPFP for my 2011 Countryman S ALL4 with a little over 91K on the odometer. I purchased the Mini in Feb. of 2021. I replaced the pump with an OEM purchased from FCS Euro. This is my first purchase from them.
Upon examination, it seems the pump I replaced is aftermarket. It's my understanding that the OEM has a QR Code on it. The pump I pulled seems to have something inscribed on the journal.
Sorry about the large photo. Doesn't seem to be a way to shrink it.
Are my thoughts correct in thinking this is aftermarket?
As far as I know (and please do not quote me on that), the HPFP fitted at factory were either made by Bosch or Continental. Whether or not BMW/MINI (or Peugeot/Citroen for that matter) ever sourced their aftermarket parts from other pump manufacturers I don't know.
FCP Euro has a nice video explaining the difference between the OEM and aftermarket HPFP's. They also claim in the video that they get their pumps from Citroen.
The pump we have is PSA (which they share the brand under Continental/bosch) Made in the Czech Republic for PSA and MINI shared engines, we had it before long before most places. This was back in 2018 PSA is shared engine with MINI and Peugeot / Citroen Prince engines.
It had a QR code on the metal last time I checked and in our pictures it shows it.
Just pulled one from shelf and it has the QR code.
On the box it will say Genuine PSA Original Parts.
At the Factory they go down the same line, might get a different QR code and stamping and one goes in Genuine MINI Box and others go into a Genuine PSA Groupe Box based on production order.

Copy that. Thank you for the great information.
Just curious... It seems FCP Euro underwrites the lifetime warranty on all their parts. Does ECS do the same? Honestly, I found the lifetime warranty very attractive. That said, I've never tried to collect on it (obviously), but they seem like a legitimate, honest operation. Any thoughts on them or any comparison notes between ECS and FCP Euro? Their price was $908, which included tax and shipping.
Thank you again for the information you have provided and continue to provide.
We have warranties, like two years on all Genuine MINI parts and one year on most others. This part is 2 years unlimited Miles. Some parts if noted have a longer warranty period. If their is a problem down the road its case by case past that. But if we can figure out what happened most of the time we will cover it. Lot of times its install error or they broke things on install, or ran a part when other parts contributed to the problems, then we just accept it anyway.
Glad to provide help. I been working with BMW parts since 1998 before i worked at ECS and MINI parts since 2004. I have seen the part systems ups and down and have learned a a lot over the years and glad to help people on the forums since 2013.
The MINI community has always been great and like to help people when I can. As I was that customer before I worked here.
We are below their price on the 13517588879 i see 968.99 vs us 961.43 unless you have an older cached page you are looking at.
Most of the time we will just match prices as those can go up and down as supplier are really changing their prices from run to run due to cost.
