Stock Problems/IssuesDiscussions related to warranty related issues and repairs, or other problems with the OEM parts and software for MINI Clubman (R55), Cooper and Cooper S(R56), and Cabrio (R57).
Has anyone else had their car in for service for the FUEL PUMP?
If you are talking about the high pressure fuel pump that is located in the engine bay, that is one of the most problematic parts on the R56. There are many reports of the high pressure fuel pump failures here on NAM. Mine was replaced under warranty at around 40K miles.
thanks for your reply
this is my second one in 3 months! i have 6300 on my mini. they blame me for such low mileage! never heard of such a thing! thanks....

Second one... you must have gotten the first one when the new pumps hadn't come out yet.
I had my fuel pump replaced before my first 1K miles. I've got over 20K on it since.
Sorry to hear such problems with such low mileage....
When did the new ones come out?
New one in December and now in April.............
Going to sell it. Hopefully this fuel pump will last years for the new owner.
I was told that fuel pumps were redesigned in the middle'ish of last year. Even if you had one replaced, they may have been using old stock (not realizing there was still a fuel pump issue)
If you're selling it because you have or want to, that's one thing.... but if you're selling it because of the fuel pump, I'd put a new one in and try it.
Like everything else in the automotive world, prob a bad batch of parts supplied by the company that subcontracts with BMW to make the hpfps. BMW's suppliers are notorious for this- quality goes up, quality goes down.
For example, look at Toyota. Do U ever hear anything in the media about their parts subcontractors taking the heat for all of their recent problems?
