2011 with BMW performance BBK

Hey all.

just a quick question.
I installed the BMW performance big brake kit, and I had to install 20mm spacers to make the wheels fit. I’d rather not need spacers, but I’m curious as to what wheel offset would I need in order to achieve it?

here’s pics

Wheel offset isn't as important as spoke design. The LMs don't allow for a ton of brake clearance to begin with.

Those brakes look identical to the JCW GP2 calipers; I ran 17x8 Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2s in a +38 offset on my GP2 when I had it.

Yeah the calipers are the same design, everything else is just OEM GP2.

also thanks for the info, I had my eye on some rpf1’s in 17x7 +35

wonder if it would fit..

Those look awesome When I measured the clearance on my car, I measured 18mm spacers for my Miata wheels.

@Zillon is correct when it comes to clearance. Spoke design has more to do with clearance than offset. OEM GP2 wheels are 17x7.5 +45. Not sure if the RPF1's have decent spoke clearance for those. My suggestion would be to purchase one fore test fit, and just see if it will mount up and give you clearance. If it fits, then get 3 more and have tires fitted.

In other news, you shouldn't have much issue selling those BBS wheels...

What did you use for brake hoses? Did you get the GP2 hoses, or reuse your S hoses? Did you upgrade the master cylinder?

Ahh gotcha! And I’m sure they’ll be up for sale soon! As soon as I can find some wheels I can’t live without

cheers

How's the pedal feel after the caliper swap?

It feels stock. I was hoping for a stiffer feel, but maybe the master Cyl will do that, and maybe some steel braided lines

You'd be correct.

Those calipers require more fluid movement, so the larger bore MC of the GP2 would help firm up the pedal.

I ran without it when we first tested the GP2 kit before anyone else on an R58 JCW and it needed it. Pedal feel was not that good before.
