Replacing Speg Fusebox, need some guidance!!

So, it took a while to find a fusebox with a matching part number to the one that needs to be replaced, my question is, is there a procedure for pulling the old one out and putting the new one in? Like, do I need to disconnect the battery or just the positive terminal? When I replaced my battery a while back I fried my footwell control module because I wasn’t paying attention to what I was doing and I don’t want to make that mistake again!!

Any help or advice you can offer will be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks!!

Syn

Disconnect the battery and let the system discharge for a while and then go ahead replace the fuse box

I keep hearing that I have to code the new fusebox to the car…can someone tell me why this is necessary? I could understand the FRM3, but why the fusebox? It contains no programming that I’m aware of, even for a German car this seems a little ridiculous!! So, does the fusebox actually have to be coded to the car? Hoping someone can explain it to me.

Thanks!!!

just like any other module, they are used across the board on cars with different features. For example, the sunroof and heated seats are not necessarily coded into the module of car that doesn't have it. So, if the donor car has same options as yours regardless of the part number (i know you matched them) then you don't need to code the JBE. otherwise, you need to code it to activate the options you have that the donor didn't have.

I hope this answers the question

I'm not sure what year your car is, but on my '08 MCS there is no programming necessary to change the SPEG. All that is in there are fuses and relays.
