Battery clarification- help please!

Hi all,

Need help, my SO called me at work yesterday, her 2010 MCS wouldn't start. Battery was stone dead, or very close. I jumped it from my Jeep and it fired right up, but the battery isn't holding a charge so i sent her off to work in a rental....

So today I'm going to replace the battery, and i need some clarifications

1. All the batteries I see online are size group 48. I've read here on NAM that its group 47. Can someone please confirm what physically fits?
2. Do i NEED to get an AGM battery? It appears to currently have a lead-acid battery, which was replaced right when i bought the car from the sketchy used car place, 2+ years ago. I'm not even convinced it was a new battery he put in.
3. I've checked the battery cables and there's no sign of an IBS. From what I've read, that means no need to "register" the new battery. Or have I misunderstood?
Basically, can i just drop in a new battery and go, worry free? Or do i need to do something else?

Thanks in advance
JC

Don't know if it's all MINIs, but a change from type like AGM to regular lead requires coding. Registration is a different process.

Check realoem.com for part numbers to cross reference.

Don’t think you need to code or
register if no IBS.

Thanks! I just replaced the battery and it fired right up and seems to be running fine, except for the need to reset the clock and radio presets.
