I purchased a pair of Recaro CS Sportster seats with side airbag from a seller on Ebay. The plug on the Recaro seat has three wires: Purple/Yellow, Black/White and Brown. The harness in my Mini only has 2 wires: Brown and Yellow. My mechanic suspects that the Brown wires go together and the Purple/Yellow go with Yellow. We are unsure if the Black/ White should just be left alone or what to do with it. Has anyone installed the non JCW Recaro Sportster seats into their R56?

Yes. My shop was able to solder the wires and made it work.

 

Do you recall what the wiring solution was? My Sportsters are in the mail.

 

Brown Wire on CS seats was left unconnected. Purple/yellow CS seats were connected to car's yellow wire. Black and white from CS seats were connected to car's brown wire

 

That's my plan as well, but as you mentioned the r53 airbag wiring is two wires, the Sportster seat airbag is three wires. Did they connect all three wires?
