R56 Mini One engine swap

Hi everybody, I’ve just signed up to this site in the desperate hope of some help and advice

My Mini One engine is in need of replacing as it has just failed. It comes stock with a 1.4 petrol n12b14 engine however it seems like a shame to replace the engine in it with the same measley 95hp engine. Does anyone have any knowledge about if the 1.6 engine is transferrable onto the one? Or if any other engines can be put in it?

Im not the most gifted with cars but I’d love any help or advice any of you can retrieve for me.

Many thanks

Henry

It's certainly possible but it's not an easy "drop in."
If you have a blown motor an want more power it would be easier and likely more cost effective just to buy a used cooper or cooper S.

I don't know if the 1.4 and 1.6 naturally aspirated engines share ECUs or wiring harnesses or transmissions. So that's something to investigate. If you're lucky you'll only have to swap the entire engine. Worst case scenario everything in the front of the car will have to be swapped and reprogrammed to the car. Either way it probably won't be worth it considering you can buy an R56 base Cooper or Cooper S for under $5k these days.
