R56 R56 Spark Plugs
R56 Spark Plugs
My 2013 R56 has 107k miles and today I got a check engine light and limp mode. I scanned it and see I have a misfire on cylinder 2. I plan to replace all the coil packs and plugs. I need recommendations for the plugs. I typically lean toward NGK, but I see Beru is the only plug listed on the FCP Euro site.
Anyone replace plugs with the Beru plugs? If so, any issues?

Try this site for the current NGK plug --- https://www.ngk.com then if your local parts store can't get them, try amazon or ebay.
I got Beru from ECS Tuning about a year ago and have put about 5500miles on them without issue. I think the NGKs I was looking at were colder and more suited to a tune. I bought the Delphi coils at the same time. I had a misfire on cylinder 3 above 4000rpm so thought it time for a change out and the car was around 58k miles. Removing old coils was quite difficult and resulted in some scratches to the valve cover.
Oh and I should mention if you get the Berus, check the gap. While they're supposedly set at factory one was well off.
good luck
cheers

Thanks for the feedback.
I ended up going with Beru because they were the only ones available at FCP. I did have one plug that was not at the correct gap, which I took care of. I was surprised that the plugs I took out were Champion 😳
I haven't driven the car since changing the coils and plugs. The weather has been great the last couple of days so I've been driving the M. I'll be driving the Cooper tomorrow and I'll report back.

If it wasn't the champion plugs that were the problem make sure you go with good coil packs like Delphi. I went the cheap route and had to fix that after just a few hundred miles.

Agreed. FCP is my parts source for the Cooper, the M3, my wife's X3 and my son's Jetta. I'm close enough that I receive my order usually next day.
The products in the link was exactly what I was looking. For some reason I could not find that when I searched the site and ended up getting the Beru plugs.

Well Carmen is running with no misfires, hesitation, check engine or limp mode after changing the plugs and coils. Now I just need to figured out where the heck the coolant is going... SMH
