R56 Piston Ring Question - Oil Ring Spacer Sizing

Hello All, I did some searching last night and failed to find the information I needed. I have google and my parts place stumped.

I am rebuilding an 2007 (build date 06/07) Turbo R56 6 Speed Mini. I have ordered Piston rings from two different vendors and they both came in, different brands but same sizes. The oil spacer does not physically fit into the piston ring groove. I was wondering if mini changed pistons mid build or? From my understanding the oil ring was an issue on these cars... the reason I am rebuilding this one.

The top compression/oil rings sit in the piston as should and I checked them in the cylinder, all good. The oil ring just appears to be slighting to large. I will log into my phone and post some photos.

If anyone has any information I would appreciate it! Happy Saturday.

Take a look at https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/ --- enter the last 7 characters of your VIN and scroll thru to find the tech info on pistons, rings etc.

Repair Manuals and Technical Data
Engine
11 25 Pistons with Rings and Pins

This'll get you to both repair instructions and specs for your specific engine. Maybe look at RealOEM for part OEM part numbers.

Go to realoem.com and enter your car's production date, that should get you where it needs to be.
