R56 Service reset
Service reset
I garaged my R56 for a 5 months and last week when I turned on the engine "SERVICE" showed-up on the cluster and went away. No triangle with a ! inside it showed on the cluster afterwards. I was puzzled as before I stored the car I had the oil replaced by the dealer and last year I spent close to $8000 to do a not so routine overall service (all fluids drained and replaced even the coolant and tranny fluids, new thermostat, small oil leak on the oil pan housing fixed, new engine mounts, suspension bushings, brakes and other blah-blah-blah) basically the car runs like new. Even if I cycle through the different service options it all shows that all the things are due not until 2019 but somehow this mini on a lift is on red. So I read here at Pelican that it means that symbol is for "vehicle check" https://www.pelicanparts.com/techart..._Explained.htm. Can I just reset that and not worry? Thanks!
If you want to reset it, here is the procedure that worked on my 2012 R56:
- Start the ignition and wait for the service info to go out
- Then press and hold the right button on the tachometer
- The first service item should appear after 10s on the display.
- Release the odo-reset button and hold the button on the light stalk
- Now "reset?" should appear below the service item
- To reset, press AND keep the indicator stalk button held once more
- During this time a clock will appear. Some seconds later the procedure is complete
- Repeat for all service items you want to reset
