Oil reset and SES light reset

I installed a megan header and a borla cat-back on my '05 MC and 3 days later the "Service Engine Soon" light came on, I verified my o2 sensors and they look great and my car runs great, also I need to change my oil soon (4k) and I need to know how to do it by myself, I was looking for a rest tool and i found thi one on summit, I know that I can reset the SES with this tool but I want to know if I can reset the oil change miles with this tool too.

I will appreciate any help

Not sure about that scanner,

a lot of us are using the Peake Research tool specific for Minis, check it out.

You don't need a special tool to reset the service indicator. You will find a how-to here - http://www.tech-esq.com/Site/Engine/...indicator.html

the reset is for 10,000 or 15,000? the last time that my oil was changed the millage was like 15,100 (new millage until next oil change), I read that the reset put a number depending on the mini use, I'm right?

When new, it counts down 10,000, after that, it count 15,000. The twist here is that is does actually count down miles, that is a calculation based on how much fuel is used. The ecu keeps track of injector "on" time. Some cars may need service sooner or later than others. I don't agree with 10-15,000 mile oil changes anyway, at least not if you want it to last a long time.

For clarification, you can only reset the SES light with a OBDII reader?

Could probably do it by disconnecting the battery, stepping on the brakes to bleed the voltage and let it sit for 15 minutes. Then reconnect the battery. Light should be out.
Works for most other cars, should work for the Mini also.

Just tried the "disconnect neg battery term, press brake pedal for 10 secs and then wait 15 mins"... SES light was still there upon re-connect...

I do have a code reader (actron cp9125) coming this week, so I guess I will give that a go...
