We have the purflux here for about 7.59 a filter ( second link below), you order $49 worth ( about 7 filters) and you get free shipping. Also, I would get the socket and extension, makes it a bit easier to install. https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...er-socket.html
We have a kit for the purflux linked as it does not have the crush washer in the kit like the Genuine MINI part. Also, the Mann one does not so you will have to pick one up. I just did my oil change and got the purflux kit with washer and went to the Molygen 5w-40.

I like to say when I order this filter thinking, I would get OEM part. I just got a E-mail saying I got the wrong filter, in a BMW Group box. They did offer to send out the right filter. Also I did E-mail BMW of America about a china made filter put in a BMW Group box, that say made in France. They did send a reply, but never answer the question, about filter being OEM. I guess the old saying goes here

Never seen a China filter in an OEM MINI box and we have a bunch in stock, they all say made in france for that one, even the purflux one thats aftermarket. Sounds like they are repacking these or the China companies are copying the boxes and then sliding in an non OEM filter. Or just what happens on Amazon?

The filter asin made, I have no problem if said filter is OEM, I am just trying to figure out why box state--Made in France-- and filter is mark as Purflux L358A.
Said filter is less than 1/2 the price, than BMW group brand, plus you have to buy washer & o-ring
When I brought said filter it came in BMW Group 11 42 7 622 446 BOX.
I do own a 2013 hatchback s, got it new, only have 8200 mi. in 5years. I want the best filter in it.

Yes, the Amazon guys are like the wild west of auto parts. They come and go all the time and you cannot really be sure of some products. Especially if they are using OEM boxes and reboxing parts. Just be careful. Also, they are not MINI owners and fanatics like we are so most of the time they don't even know what you are talking about when you ask them questions.

I posted about the purflux L358A, for us owners in rural area. That need a filter right away, to do a quick oil change. As my dealer is 200 miles round trip away. It is nice to know I can get a filter a napa or auto parts store and still be OEM.

I do get 3 car every spring, ready for the road, and the cost is a lot higher this year. wix filter up $3.00 x 2=$6.00 oil up $8.00 for 5 qts x 2=$16.00 higher than I payed last year.
The mini is about the same, maybe a little less. Still have air filters to get. I change filters every year.

Personally I only drive my mini in the summer months! I do about 2 oil changes a summer ! About 2000 to 2500,
I was reading on the Peugeot/citroen fourms ‘ an they claim there maintain schedule’ is 2500 miles to 3000 ‘ I’ve never been able to verify it ! But in ways it makes a lot of sense with direct injection cars’ So I’ve been living by it’ with zero problems ,

Surely people realize that BMW makes cars. Cars are made of parts. There's no elf shop that makes BMW air filters, oil filters, water pumps, belts, spark plugs, etc. They source those parts from SOMEWHERE and put them in a BMW car, or a BMW box.
So, yes, sometimes you have to get a BMW or MINI branded part because it's only manufactured for them. That's called proprietary. But you are not doing your car any disservice by finding out who manufactures a particular part for BMW, and buy that part directly from the source, or a retailer at some discount, if it's available.
So, if you're new to MINI, and you are fortunate enough to read this post, save yourself some money, and source the filter that bebevett is mentioning (that is the EXACT OEM replacement), for about half the price. Don't let anybody scare you into thinking that MINI has the most peculiar automotive franchise in the world in that their cars will self-implode if you don't use a part that comes in a box with their brand printed on it.

is there some sense to why the kit-with-washer does not qualify for $49 free shipping? ( the filter and the washer separately qualify, but ordering the kit cost me $12 shipping..)
