R56 Tachometer Swap and now problems
Tachometer Swap and now problems
I got my new to me 2013 Cooper S and hated the new Tach vs my 2007 that showed the temp and time. While at the junk yard there was a 2007 that had the gauge pods built into the side.. Well little ole me bought them for $50.00 came home and installed it. Mileage showed 50,xxx which is the correct mileage and all was well.. Fast forward 3 months and Im going to the gym and look down and its 122,000!!!

I swapped the old gauge back into the car but now it briefly shows 52,xxx (which is correct) but then goes back to 122,xxx. I pulled the terminals off the battery for a couple days when I was away but that didnt help. My question is will it figure it out and go back to the 52,000?
Thanks!

oh my...it happened to me while I was rebuilding my flooded 2013 mini. Basically, the concept is the computers will sync data (not all, but some are "sync-able") and mileage could be one of those data entries. It will store the highest number and will always add the numbers.
When I had that issue, I called my "service tech" out in IL and was able to restore my mileage. I had to send him the ECU, CAS, keyfob, cluster, and tachometer. They all needed to be synced the same time.
