Disable heated seat bottom cushion only?

Do you guys know of a way I can disable JUST the bottom cushion of the heated seat in my 2013 Coooper S?

Maybe there is a wire that I can cut or unplug?

Any any info would be great!

There is a wire set that goes to the bottom pad and the top back. You would have to trace the one to the bottom pad and bypass it.

I would make a note and if you ever sell the MINI, to reconnect it.

Thanks for the reply!

Unless I take apart my whole seat I won't be able to find the wire that goes to the bottom seat cushion.

Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the R56 LCI heated seats? I need to know what color the wire is that leads to the bottom seat cushion.

Thanks guys!

Looks like the bottom and back are on different connectors to the heating module under the seat.

Fantastic! Thank you so much for taking the time to give back and help people. You're the man!

I unplugged the seat cushion wire and the back wouldn't heat. :\

There must be some sort of system in place that refuses to let just the back part heat without the bottom seat connection. Any thoughts on how to get just the back to heat?

Maybe I could leave the seat cushion pluged in and cut one of the three wires sticking out of it?

Yes, I would disconnect the bottom seat, maybe you disconnected the top by mistake.

maybe the module is looking for a resistance threshold and removing either changes that setpoint. the module could have disabled itself to prevent fire/burn!

I think this is it. I have unplugged each one respectively and neither work without both plugged in.

I need to find a way around this.

you can install a resistor instead of the bottom. measure resistance (unplugged) and spec out the resistor for 12V.

if that will be the plan, make sure you secure that resistor in a place or container that withstands head because it will heat up; not sure by how much... do a dry run if it works for few minutes or hours to measure the maximum heat the resistor will exert.

There are three wires in the plug for the bottom seat. 2 for the seat back.

looking at the wiring diagram, you want to install the resistor (after you find the resistance) across 4 & 1.

I have a bad back and want the seat heater on all the time. I don't want my butt to be hot ALL the time though.

One last question. Do I measure the resistance on the seat heat element or on the box that the heat element plugs into?

I assume it's the 2 wires that connect to the seat element itself but I thought Id ask.
