Proper tire size. Really confused

so I been search the forums and reading about proper tire size. I am running 16x9 et26. I first started with 195 50 16 tires but there were some bubbles on the tires when I bought the car so I changed all four tires to 205 45 16. My speedo was way off driving with these tires. But that's what I read to use on this forum since I will be dropping my car on eibach pro kits and bilstein shocks. So after about 4 days I ended up buying another set of tires 205 55 16. Now my speedo reads correct when I drive but I'm afraid that I'll rub when I drop the car. I been reading about all these stance drops but the tire size they use seems wrong or they don't car about what the speedo says when driving. So can anyone please tell me what are correct tire sizes I'm suppose to run thank you

I think you are correct most folks who do lowering and such aren't worried about the speedo being off, especially considering how far off it is from the factory to begin with. Is that really your concern, sacrifice look, performance whatever to get the speedo correct?

From: lower Alabama
195/50 r 16 = 23.7"

205/45 r 16 = 23.3"

205/55 r 16 = 24.9"

195/55 r 16 = 24.4"

Factory mini speedo reads fast by 2mph at 80mph (actually 78mph) on my MCS on 195/55 r 16. My tires circumference is a bit smaller then yours and still reads a little off so yes you are right.

Stock is 195/55/16 = 24.4"
Another popular size is 205/50/16 at 24.1"

205/55/16 might rub if you lower, especially if the offset
is that different from stock.

Any of these mentioned are quite a bit of a stretch on 9" width tires.
Maybe 225/45/16 might be more appropriate, but I'm not sure if
there's enough room for them.

I switched from 205 45 16 the speedo was almost 14 miles different. Thinking when I lower the car it would clear the 45 series. But the car looked all weird. I just order front and rear camber arms and plates. I'm gonna try to stick with the 55 series. And see how it goes. I'll start a thread after I get everything installed

I got 205/50/16's which are actually the same width as the 205/45 and closer the the OEM height.

You should check out www.tiresize.com. This will give you all the info the 'expertz" have . Don't bother measuring - take a complete stranger's axpurt advice.
Me? I eyeballed 235/40/17 onto my 2" lowered JCW. Looks BADASS but I can't get the damn thing to rub.

PS - you don'thave to worry about speedo errors if you are already speeding.

Never got the thing to rub but came up with a mod to make it SCRAPE,but of course only when stationary. Ah,you say -AIRBAGS ! No,no. Just add FATHAGS and wonder if you put the drag slix on the front or the rear.
NO FAT CHIX stickers are no longer available.
