CNT catted downpipe

So I have a clogged cat and I have been looking for a replacement for a week or two now. I came across CNT racing and they had a catted down pipe for 350$ shipped. I decided to keep looking since i could find nothing on them at the time.

https://www.cntracing.com/shoppingcart.asp?

However on black Friday i decided to take another look and to my surprise the price dropped to 200$ shipped ( this sale ends 12/26). Instantly purchased at that point. From what i have been told by a friend who owns a Subaru CNT is recommended and has really positive feedback from that community.

Once I get it in and installed I will update.

How have you diagnosed that the cat is clogged?

Many cats that I have seen failed were due to excessive oil passing through the exhaust and quickly destroying the catalyst.

Keep in mind that some high flow catalyst systems have the possibility of throwing a CEL, so if you are in a state that does emissions testing it may cause problems with your testing results.

I've got a CNT catted downpipe on my R58S, honestly it's great, it installs really easily and sounds great, but it DOES pop a CEL with or without a spacer, which I'll just get coded away with a tune.

I took it to a Mini dealer where they tried to instantly gouge me for 1100$. As far as the cel goes I have a plan to upgrade a few things and get it tuned so i figured i would get it inspected before i install the new down pipe.

A ignition coil had failed on me a while ago which i replaced with
Bavarian Autosport High-Performance Ignition Coil Set

Of course I also had to replace my spark plugs. for a while she ran fine but recently I have been having and issue with a lack of power and im some cases I cannot exceed 3500rpm in 5th of 6th gear. So i took it to the dealer to have it looked at.

Tech_God do you have any clips of the sound or pictures regarding fitment?

I would ask the dealer for a print out of the codes stored and why said codes point to you needing a downpipe.

A failing HPFP can cause the same problem of not being able to exceed 35 MPH, and is covered under an extended warranty on select cars.

I do not unfortunately, I have it installed with an Invidia Q300 exhaust and I installed it a week after having the Q300. It sounded about the same as with the stock DP, maybe a little deeper at idle, but the main difference was when I applied throttle. The Q300 by itself sounds really smooth, but with the downpipe, it has a really nice deep growl to it, I was honestly wondering if I should delete the resonator on the Q300 until I got the downpipe, then thought it was perfect, not too loud since it's my daily.

As far as fitment, it did fit with no issues at all on my car, bolted right up, it was just a pain getting the lower heatshield off to get it in place before I put it back on.

So.. I got it installed. Fitment was bad it needed to modified, also so far with o2 spacers I have no check engine lights. It sounds good a little louder than stock nothing to crazy I will get a sound clip as soon as its not 4 degrees out. I will update with pictures again later this weekend.

There are two tabs on the bottom of the DP which did not fit correctly. This may not be the case with all their DPs but for mine this was the case. But with problems comes problem solving. and for the 200$ i spend I perfectly fine with it.

You know the saying measure twice cut once? Well we ran out of time so we slotted it and rubber mallet!

You couldn't get enough adjustment on the mounts themselves?

No they had been welded slightly off so slotting and adding an addition washer was the simplest way for it to be done at the time.

Also to note its came with a complete POS gasket (only one) so make sure you have another factory one or try not to damage either of the two gaskets. The bottom gasket you need to be really careful with because of the tabs so be gentle with a screwdriver
