Code Reader

I bought a bluetooth ELM327 v2.1 OBD2 adapter and used Torque Pro on my android phone. I tried it on my Ford truck first and it displayed some error codes but when I tried it on a 2009 Mini S it would not connect to the ecu. Any ideas why not ? Or do I need a different OBD adapter / reader ? Thanks !

That appears to be a generic OBD II reader so it's unlikely that it will work on BMW / Mini vehicles. I know mine wouldn't so I bought an iCarsoft i910 and it seems to get the job done.

It will work with just the key pushed in. The car doesn't need to be running.

I just talked to a company that makes OBD readers and they said theirs would not work without the engine running.... LOL

Schwaben (In-depth): https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...d-q-and-a.html

Or

Caritsa (specific coding and more basic): https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...er-25-off.html

Most of the time the depending on the generation MINI, the ignition needs to be on, but not running.
