So do the teflon seals in this VW kit fit the R56?

 

Have you confirmed that the fitment is exact? They also don't have the crush washer in that kit that the MINI injectors require when you're doing anything with the injectors.

Those are under extreme pressure and a deviance of millionths of an inch can cause problems.

You also need the special tools to shrink the Teflon seals prior to install, otherwise you fight like hell and risk failure, or guarantee failure.

 

I have a MINI and VW kit on order to measure and compare. The white teflon, blue rubber and grey plastic parts look the same. Also a VW tool kit coming...

nkfry, what's the crush washer you're referring to? The only difference I can see is the metal spring/clip. This task is all kind of a moot point anyway now that I found PelicanParts sells rebuild
kits for $19 each. Before I was just seeing the Genuine MINI kits at $80+ each. Insane...

 

I got both the VW kit, 06J998907B (Made by Bosch) and the Bosch 2707010018 (MINI 13537573801 equivalent). The teflon seal, blue rubber o-ring and grey spacer rings are exactly the same parts.

What's obviously different is metal mounting spring. But, even though the two springs are of different design, they are the same size and function. Both have a spring height of exactly .715", both have an I.D. between .712" and .729" and the distance between the spring forks are both exactly .598". So close that I'd be comfortable using the VW spring on the MINI.

My old mounting springs were significantly compressed, so whatever part you use, I'd make sure to replace the springs and not just the seals.

 

I also bought a generic VW/Audi injector service tool kit on eBay. I didn't try the pullers as my injectors were already out, but the brass, teflon seal sizers work perfectly. The one I bought was a Koch Tools, KT20370. $80 shipped.

Bosch HDEV-5 series injectors are all the same size dia. 20.7mm length 87mm so the injectors and kits should be interchangeable. I wonder if the high pressure pump internals are the same.

Gray Raven, as a moderator could a pats interchangeability - issues and request forum be set up so we can work with vendors to get things like engine build kits, the High pressure pump problem and the best prices etc.
