Hi everyone,
I have a 2007 MCS. So thus morning I started my car up and the CEL popped up saying I had the p0597 code (thermostat stuck open) but I don't understand what the problem is. I replaced the thermostat less that 6 months ago and I haven't had any problems whatsoever until now. Can anybody figure out what's going on?
Thanks in advance,
Tyler
Anyone? I'm confused. I can clear the code and drive without it coming back, but it comes back everything I start the car. Even WOT it doesn't come up.
sensor could be going out! is your mini getting up to temp? or going into limp mode?
Which sensor do you mean? And where is it located? I don't have a way to read temperature :frown: but it does not go into limp mode at all, runs perfectly fine from what I can tell, doesn't feel any different. And I have full Heating capabilities also. Thanks for replying
ECS tuning , any thoughts on this? I got the replacement thermostat from you guys. It can't be normal for them to fail this quickly
Most of the time its the connect at the sensor on the wire harness side or at the main plug on the side. Bad terminals or the wire terminals don't make contact. The plug on the MINI wire harness side gets brittle and cracks, falls apart.
The other problem is air get trapped in the system. You have to bleed the thermostat multiple times.

We have not had many problems with the newest design, but if you still have a problem contact us we are here to help.
I actually got the part from you guys 5 months ago. I contacted your sales department and they are sending me a new one and refunding me when I send the faulty one back. If I have a problem with the newer one then it's probably an electrical problem. You guys are great btw! I rep you with the license plat frame
had this engine code pop on a mini i just traded for. previous owner just did the thermo housing swap so i suspected he cracked or broke the connection of the sensor. looked and it appears the connector is being held together with electrical tape. car ran and drove fine and still does so ill just replace the sensor and be done with it
