lower control arm bushing replacement info?

so i noticed that my steering has been less responsive, as well as more lateral motion in the front suspension while applying force to the wheels. i inspected the bushings and fount that they were torn. its time to replace them, so i picked up a set of assemblies, and had urethane bushings pressed in. i was wondering if there are any good resources online that show the process of dropping the subframe, as well as the installation process. i was looking at installing urethane sway bar bushings and strut mounts as well. im mostly looking for the subframe bit. any help would be great.

Here are 2 videos on how to replace the bushings without dropping the subframe. I used this method when I changed them on our first gen MINI.

it seems like a horrible idea to torch on any suspension component. and the last video is of an r53 using a saw lol. i found a step by step on how to lower the subframe. just took a bit more digging than i expected

Can you please share your findings? I'm interested in this as well. Thanks.

We have a front control arm replacement DIY that might be helpful HERE under tech info (tab at top) > R56 articles > Suspension > Front Control Arm Replacing.

here is a link to removing the lower control arm bushings without removing the subframe completely. you still need to lower it but it saves time and allows for removal of less parts throughout the process. i estimate the total time involved to be 3ish hours. obviously will be easier if you have access to a lift, but as shown is possible on jack stands.

+1 on doing the powerlfex or superpro LCAB : https://www.ecstuning.com/Mini-2007-Cooper-R56-S-Coupe-L4_1.6L_N14B16A/Suspension/Control_Arm/

While you are there I would make sure the inner and outer ball joints are good.

If you have a lift and support the back of the subframe on a Transmission jack , its easier to loosen and lower and watch your head , its easy to bang it on the it of the sub frame mount. Ouch.
