What I did to my Mini today

I got board today so I decided to mess around with the Mini. My original hood scoop is warped and cracked. I am looking for the right replacement so in the meanwhile I decided to paint my old one to see how I might like it painted a different color than the color of the car. Below are the pics, let me know what you guys think of the white. I was also thinking black but with the white stripes on the BGR I wasn't sure how the black would look. Let me know. Also I finally got my Homelink programmed to my garage. The secret is the car has to be running...

Looks good in white, one thing is to note on the warped hood scoop , there are updated parts to use to help reduce the heat on the new plastic one, also people have gone to the Carbon fiber one which does not tend to warp like the plastic.

I like the white scoop a lot. Ever thought about getting white mirror caps to match as well?

I have an ice blue mini. I'm thinking of painting mine black or just buying a black one. They also have carbon fiber ones but they are expensive and stick up a little more. I like it though. How much is your new one?

I found a new primed one for 70 bucks. Try painting your first before you spend any on a new one. Just clean it with denatured alcohol and then use a good spray primer then a good gloss finish coat, u can also spray on a clear coat for added protection and shine. I would love a carbon fiber one but can bring myself to spend that much on it.

@ Pelican Parts, Funny you should say that about the mirror caps, I was reading the original equip that this car shipped with and the white caps were on there. When I bought it the mirror caps were the union jacks and the wife was not having any of that, so I pulled those off and found that black ones were underneath.

Yeah that's actually really good advice. If anything I'll have to drive a jacked up mini for a week while I wait for my new part. Yeah I'd really like one too but I'd rather spend my money on performance parts or save it for repairs lol. That's for the tips though. I'll give it a shot.

That is funny. I'm sure you could maybe trade with someone in the marketplace if you did want to have them match. Or, a body shop can easily repaint them for faily cheap. You could, however, get some rattle can paint and primer/paint them yourself as a fun project since you did your hood scoop yourself.
