I want something that will be fairly easy to install and will be compatible with my existing components and looks decent . Oh and reasonable is a plus.

To clarify the existing Hu is currently has a cd stuck and it and the **** is broke off. Talked to another mini owner who said they had the same issue and it just kept eating cds. They had to replace. Trying to get an idea what I'm looking at.

 

Well, first you should read through a lot of these posts. Dealing with the HK system has put many a Mini owner in the ground. Second, you can get a replacement headunit on Ebay for small change. In any given year, the head units are the same for HK and Boost. If you want to get fancy, look for an '05 unit that has an aux connection.

I'm assuming that, since your post is in the 1st Gen forums, it is a 1st Gen car.

Yep, it is a 2005 R53 and after reading some of these threads I think I will just try to find a stock HU in good condition. I think I want the newer one. I'm hoping the newer model that is made by seimens is compatible. I know this sounds silly but it is obvious in a picture if it has aux in, i.e. the jack is on the front of the hu? Just want to double check before buying.
