Clutch/flywheel difference

I'm in need of a new clucth. Is there really a difference between the turbo clucth/flywheel and supercharged version?

Yes they are two completely different clutch and flywheels. You can't interchange any of the parts.

So if the compatible models are simply 's' models it probably won't work? I'm looking a a valeo flywheel conversion kit. Just says s model 07 no turbo or supercharged.

You'll need to confirm with the vendor selling the product. As Way said, the -G1 and G2 clutch/flywheels are two totally different part conglomerations.

The first gen cabrio's went into 2008, and second gen production started in 2007, so you need to verify if it is for the first generation or second generation.

Valeo does sell a clutch kit, which is just the pressure plate, throw out bearing, and friction disc, but you still need to buy a flywheel.

If you have any questions or wanted to get the kit ordered we can help you out, and assure that you are getting the proper parts for your job.

No DM to SM conversion from Valeo, that's first gen, and like everyone says " two diffrent set up , not the same. "

If you want a Dual mass to single mass conversion look at the clutch master in the steel flywheel kit. FX100

South bend only makes the clutches for the Gen 1 MINI, which we carry . Not gen 2. For Gen 2 we have the clutch master version.

Unfortunately you're stuck with 3 options:

Stock

Clutchmasters (Which we've had multiple failures on the G1 cars and stopped pushing)

OS Giken

The stock clutch will get you the same life, same feel, and same failure. But it is very easy to drive in traffic. The Giken is going to be a bit more of a pain in traffic and hill starts, but is a GREAT feeling clutch. It also comes with a full steel throw out bearing, made in house at OS Giken soley for use in their clutch kits.

If you're looking to save money then stock is going to be the recommendation I give you, Clutchmasters has left a sour taste with us after multiple failures.

It's also a good idea to replace a few other things while you're in there doing the job, but otherwise we have the Genuine clutch kits HERE as well. You'll need to check the condition of your flywheel to see if you can resurface it, otherwise you'll need a new one.

Also has JMTC as an option (various prices but most under OS Giken - linked their R56 clutch kit page), and I believe SPEC (although they seem to be getting a similar rep as ClutchMasters).

I'd say Valeo/stock if not planning much by way of upgrades (possibly with a single flywheel such as the JMTC conversion). Otherwise JMTC or OS Giken personally.
