RX Brand OCC

Any thoughts on the RX Brand OCC. The argument for that style sounds good.. Anyone recommend a different style OCC that is rigged that way? A can that just goes out of the valve cover over to the OCC and back in the main big hose straight into the turbo? Does this do much good? I am new at this, but am looking to slowdown the carbon build up. Am in the process of valve cover, water pump, timing chain rebuild. 60k miles. Not fun stuff, but I love my MCS. So i'm all in for the upgrades if the OCC would be worth the trouble.

I have the rx can just did not installed yet, waiting for fittings only. But you can email Tracy who is the designer of that system he will explain you everything. Also there is another member here that installed his system and he is very happy with it, actually he said that the car runs smoother.

I had the RX Can installed on my R56, it was the test car. I love my can and it is working like it should. Tracy is no longer the contact for RX as he is no longer with them. Tommy is the guy to call, he has all the parts and supply now. Anyways, the RX system is hands down the best one to go with, I can send pics of mine if u like. I have attached one pic, you can see the can on the top right.

Well because I change my oil more frequently than others, the amount i have caught i would say would probably fill a small dixie cup, like the ones at a dentist office. Not alot all to gether however my Mini is a weekend driver so I imagine if it was a dily driver it would be more than that. I can tell you that my oil in between changes is becoming more cleaner and the car runs much better.

We have a DIY Catch Can Install on our site under MINI > tech info tab at the top. We didn't install the one you're asking about, but it gives you some good overall information about them.

When you say the car runs much better are you talking about in idle, cruising, in between gears? can you be more specific?

Thanks

I believe it idles better for sure. I also had the walnut shell blasting done to the valves when it was installed so the car really drove like a new car when it was fixed. The main idea of the catch can is to keep the unburnt oil, gas, and other crap from being put back into the engine. I can tell you my oil is much cleaner and the engine is always under a vacuum and getting circulated into the catch can.

Thank you very much for the info, very appreciated.
You are the second person that i know that have that system installed and also the second person in telling me that the car runs much better. I understand the concept of the catch can but it is the system concept that i was not sure if it works or not, however always made sense to me specially because it keeps the crankcase pressure low and therefore no oil leakage in the valve cover.

Have you take a look on the intake valves after the installation they did? to see how much oil you have on the valves.

Thanks

I haven't had the chance to look at the valves again. I plan on doing that later on when i have some more miles on it. All i can say is the Mini has had new life breathed into it.
