Why have the price of pumps increased like 400%?

MINI has increased pricing across the board, Like I said in another thread: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...fuel-pump.html

" these were high in price, then they dropped down in price, then shot way up. " They can change from year to year.

BMW recently raised prices about 2 weeks ago on product across the board. For the HPFP specifically it could be related to the recall as they try to recoup some of their losses, but it's tough to say why exactly.

. I replaced mine last month, I paid just shy of $250 brand new from MINI of the Woodlands. I get better price because of our shop and I did replace it myself since I'm an European car tech. And don't get a used one, trust me on that one.

maybe they don't want anyone but dealers to do the repairs, or the supply is low.

Usually, as I have been doing parts for many many years , it's coming off a big TSB repair or if reorder from the manufacturer and some part component is now higher in price. Or they order a smaller amount of component and the price goes up. Economies of scale. I have talked to MINI Product people in the past and they have told me several things. When the part is unique for MINI and not shared by BMW cost goes up, when they share the price is stagnate. When the part is not shared , MINI prices can be much higher then the similar BMW counterpart. Much more to it. The price just changed at the beginning of the month.
