Nos on a turbo??? 2009 MCS R56

Im asking this with much reserve but was thinking about a 10 pound 50 HP wet shot system to "possibly" take up that low-end lag you [or at least i have...] with turbo ....is this a viable / do-able /survivable thing or just an exercise in futility and possibly a blown up engine [or bent rods ect..] ?? i may be wrong but i was looking at NX Nitrous Express Proton Plus Nitrous System & thought this may be what this particular system was sort of designed for ----- OR ---- is there another option thats as affordable [or more so in the event such standards "50 hp,wet shot ,10# bottle is used..] ???

Yea it can be done, I've done it. In about 2-3 seconds it burned a valve. Unless you have a tune for nitrous, good luck getting that, save yourself the headaches.

I don't think water/Meth will take the Lag out, It is what it is...Turbo lag...
I used Water/Meth on my past cars and prob will do on this MCS as well.
I use this Water/Meth more for cooling and cleaning than anything else
Cooler the engine the better... heat kills...Can be tuned for Water/Meth additional HP

Sorry but meth won't help lag at all. Injection doesn't start till boost is already building to keep from loading up the engine. Mine is adjusted to engage at around 10 psi.

Anti-lag tuning is altering the "tip in" setting when accelerating. The AFR is kept lean (even above stoich) and timing is advanced for a short window to increase EGT. A higher exhaust gas temperature will deliver more energy to the turbine wheel reducing spool times.

To give you an idea of what I did last night on the way home from work, closed course test obviously. 😜. I run the following two items on my nitrous kit. And the jets are 67 nos and 36 fuel. Using it to reduce lag I feel is kinda useless. 1st and 2nd gear are so short as it is, you hit it with nos it's gonna be even shorter. I wait til I'm mid 3rd gear if I'm desperate to kick there *** or mid 4th and up. At the bottom is a chart for proper jets that a knowledgable person gave me the other day. I found that one worked best. I had another I used but it was on the safe side of safety and you could tell it was on the rich side of gas. I'll let you guys figure out how hard I'm blasting this thing. Lmao. Anybody wanna try there luck ?

i actually decided to go with methanol injection for now [i.e. just boost my octane /cool down the thermal end ...] and i use AT on my mini and dont have a complaint about it at all...theres alot to say about the newer AT's with paddle shift... after i get the methanol part worked out i may consider Nos but im prolly just gonna pay off my mod-debts for now...which will prolly take me 7-9 months...minimum...grr..

Going with a GT28RS is a BIG mistake! The Owens unit is much easier to tune for. There are also other hybrids that work well. A Borg Warner 6258, in the EFR series, is also the right size for a Mini. The Garrett is just too slow spooling up and you'll probably be very disappointed with it. I put mine in over 4 years ago, before others were "popular". Been regretting it ever since. Take some time and learn how to read turbo compressor charts, then decide which turbo to use. There's a lot more to upgrading a turbo than installing a well-marketed kit.

I lowered my injection to 3 psi. Trying to keep from frying the engine but, it is probably too late because I burn oil like its cool.

Tigger, explain more please. I might have multiple issues, but, I burn oil like crazy. I just see some similarities and a few statements just made something click.
I've seen high egt's at some points. I've burned off electrodes. Even with methanol. Burned electrodes are from heat. Heat being caused by lean, advanced timing or both. Just curious cause that whole quote and last post rang a bell for me. And running perfect stoich has always been found to be a tick lean in the past.

Yes, the 3" DP is what decided me against the JCW turbo --- the only other one I could find 4.5 years ago. I too wanted a kit --- something with all the necessary parts to make it fit. Since then, the supplier has modified their kit based on my "critique". Turns out that most any muffler shop can build a 3" system. Might not be fancy chrome throughout, but will be very functional.

Function is what you want. Chrome looks good but won't get you home.
