Did you have to have a local dealership code the new fob to your mini for the comfort features to work?

I just ordered a fob/slide-in-key from TheMINIPartStore and got the key/fob very quickly, but then found out that the comfort programming would be about an hour at the dealership.

Do you think a home coding/maint app like "Carly" would be able to do this?

Thanks in advance,

- Will

I did my own. I have an ICOM a2 and the software. You may be able to do it with other software. However the software will need to pull info from several Assemblies.

Gotcha - thanks... I'm deep in the process of deciding how much I want to spend on a device/software... not sure if I'll use this for much other than this one "complex" task... most other tweaks will (prob) be minor.

Thanks!

Just curious (I realize it's an old thread) --
Did you have to do any reprogramming once your new replacement key arrived? Or by supplying VIN, etc, did the new key immediately work directly out of the box?

I just received my order a few weeks ago. They key works right out of the box. No programming is needed as long as you provide the correct VIN # when ordering. The Comfort Access is a different story. A trip to Dealer is needed for that.
