Help with CC-ID 131 and 132 error and all lights working...

Help with CC-ID 131 and 132 error and all lights 100% working...

I just bought this 2007 Pepper and seller gal said the error code was from installing replacement license frame light and shop was charging her 60$ to fix and after i bought it the google I did says they are parking light error codes not anything to license plate bulbs:

131 Footwell module
(FRM)
Parking light front
left, failure!
Parking lights
Parking light front left, failure!
Have the problem checked by the nearest BMW
Service.
132 Footwell module
(FRM)
Front right side light
failed!
Parking lights
Front right side light failed!
Have the problem checked by the nearest BMW
Service.

So since the lights all work 100% is this a Footwell module repair? I I noticed the invoice quote to repair Footwell module she had was 600$ not 60$!!! Yikes!
And I've read if you replace lights with LEDs with wrong resistor value can cause 131,132 but everything seems factory 100% stock...

Thank You guys in Advance,

Anthony

UPDATE:

I tried to remove both battery cables for 45 min with no luck bulb warnings 131 and 132 are still there. I called my euro BMW service shop i trust with minis and usually cheaper than BMW factory service cost$ and asked how much to re-program the Footwell module (FWM) and he said 250$ labor. He said thier program is recently up to date and only 2 weeks old.

I called Mini and they recommended 195$ to do full diagnostic on root cause and that would include the grounding checks which I've read can be root cause of this error codes and not the FWM at all. But if diagnostic says its the FWM it would cost me another 195$ to re-program it if I decide to gamble just to see if re-programming will resolve 100% w/o replacing module part. I say this cz I read sometimes a re-program can resolve FWM issues w/o replacing module itself but this is still pricey option with no guarantee to clear these 2 codes. Module part cost is new I'm sure is hella price 350-400$. Ebay has some used ones under 100$...

Any body have some input on this related FWM and both codes CC ID 131,132 with all lights working?

Thx!!!

Even though all bulbs work, have you tried just simply replacing the bulbs with non-led bulbs to make sure it's not a compatibility issue between car and bulb? Far cheaper then a reprogramming of a module that may not be needed.

I'm no so sure they are LEDs but now that you mention it I will check. They both work and do not look LED-ish but seller mentioned she changed em so maybe she put the wrong watt value in place so resistance is off.

I also called my local Mini dealership 21.75 each and not in stock they would have to order... Do you have any link to part numbers/specs where I could get OEM or OEM equivalent bulbs on line maybe somewhere?

Thx!!!

UPDATE:

Here is one of the bulbs she said she put in before problem started as far as I know or maybe light came on and then she changed out bulbs not 100% sure...

It is not LED of course. And data stamped on it are as follows:

OSRAM--
12V 05W--
37R--
E1--
0010--
n3i--

Do ya think a higher wattage replacement may solve the bulb warning lamp problem? I'm thinking these may be too low because they are not very bright-ish...

Thx Anthony

I have a bulb guide that someone made for the R56 and R55 that I'll attach when I can get to my computer. It'll have the bulb type and you should be able to find them at any local automotive store. Or you can order direct replacement LED lights from ECS Tuning that are CANBUS friendly so it won't cause bulb out warnings.

Led Plate lights for the R56 R57 R58 R59 Right here. No bulb out errors and very bright.

LED License Plate Bulb - Pair ES2598621

Your regular filament bulb might have a small crack in the wire, and it will light up on and off.

Ya I tried replacing them with OEM bulbs cz thjat is way cheaper than 195$ evaluation for root cause by mini which I find not that awful expensive to have then 100% determine root cause of 131,132 bulb errors. From what I read and a buddy at BMW it's prolly a reprogram FWM will resolve. But that is 195$ from Mini service as well and its a gamble cz it may a ground issue from what I read. I'm leaning towards a re-program first gamble cz every light works inside and out.

Now I did read that I could get a program cable and turn off the parking light check... Here is what the guy posted exactly --->

"You could always use NCS Expert to turn off the bulb check. then you would not need the resistors"

Can I buy a cable and get this NCS expert and do this? I would love to be able to do that and I'm pretty savvy with computers and programmed my fuel injection, Innivate AF, and CDI on my turbo UTV Rhino so I'm not afraid of this and might even be cheaper than the 195$ We have 4 Minis in our family now so might be useful right??? What do you guys think of this idea to rid my 131 and 132 bulb errors???

Thanks in Advance,

Anthony

Ok, check the rear tailgate terminals for the lights, the lenses pops off and then is now installed incorrectly, letting moisture in and the ground terminals might be corroded in the tailgate grip for that bulb error.

You are getting two bulbs errors ? Check the terminals on those front parking lights also and follow the wires to the grounds. Check the connections plugs also for corrosion.
