Make it a Mini Challenge

What engine/internal modifications should be applied to an R56S so that it will be turned into a mini challenge?

Some of the external body parts are available, but the internal engine parts are almost impossible as it was a create engine that was for the series. The internal are not available on there own.

Can you please be more specific regarding the internals that are almost impossible?

I believe this engine was built for race purposes only and in house at MINI Motorsports. The part numbers for the internals are not available. Only as the whole engine which is not available.

The internals were forged, what specifically are you looking for within the internals?

There is nothing specific im looking for but i was surprised that ECSTuning said it was impossible and not available. In general i was curious to know all the differences that are applied to a mini challenge car compared to my own R56S.

And a question, why were they forged?

No the internals to the Challenge cars are NOT any different.

The engines are sealed with tags to prevent cheating. There are a bunch of little things done like that to try and keep the playing field as even as possible. The ECU and tuning is what really makes the difference over a standard JCW.

I actually remember talking with friends of mine that currently race challenge cars. Before the R56 Challenge cars were ready, they didn't have the JCW engines and actually had failures. The thought is those results caused the 09+ JCW cars to all have better internals from the factory.

I guess when you say internals… does it refer to shaved cylinder heads, oversized bores and domed out pistons, competition cams and dynamic balancing to reduce weight and etcetera. From there, a custom tune is created?
