Need a Water Pump Replacement Guide
My water pump is leaking on my 2007 Mini Cooper S. There has been a very slow leak for sometime, but after a recent coolant flush it's seems to a major leak now. Not sure why it would worsen after a coolant flush. But it's loosing a substantial amount.
I'm not sure how to access the pump properly, weather it be by removing the passenger tire wheel well cover or if the engine needs to be slightly lifted. Thus i'm seeking advise or perhaps a link to a detailed guide on doing a water pump replacement.
I've found a replacement pump at pelicanparts.com for a good price:
http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/..._pg1.htm#item1
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated in advanced.

We have the water pumps right here:
The factory ones used to be plastic housing then they went to metal for the Genuine MINI version, aftermarket we carry are metal also.
Water Pump Part # 11517550484

While you are at it check the thermostat housings and the expansion tank: Part # 11537534521 & 17137823626

Parts are all linked there as well with diagrams and pictures.
Thanks and I hope that helps.

ECS, thank you for your detailed response, assistance with sourcing parts. However do you happen to have this exact part?

I've read on other post that the "GRAF" water pump requires minor modification in order to fit.

We have the Genuine MINI, Graf , and Hepu one and all those and more. Check the links, there are more parts.
The Graf one works also. On install you will have to work the pulley around the tad larger stem on the shaft. I was able to do it with moving the engine mount a hair more. Which gives you room against the side wall support rail of the engine.
Thanks

fwiw, having gone through this with a Hepu, I'd go for the genuine MINI now that they have switched to the metal housing. The Hepu had the same issue with the spindle length that the Graf has. Doable but even more of a pita than normal.
At one point I ran across info that Saleri is the MINI supplier. Not sure if that is still the case since the switch to metal.

Over at Pelican Parts it still says Saleri is OEM Supplier. I'm hoping that one is the next best thing to the OEM. I don't want to modify a new water pump.
Thank you very much

You don't have to modify the aftermarket pump at all. It just has a long nod and needs a little more room to get the water pump pulley back on. Just have to nug the engine over a hair more because its tight up against the back side wall. If you can replace the pump in general you can do this job.
